This is totally bogus and of course I'm going to sue these guys. This car I was driving got impounded for $1000. And state's law for my 1 day impounded was less than $400. =(

IIRC, in LA, they can't tow unless an LAPD officer is present. If the owner gets to the car BEFORE the truck enters a traffice lane, they have to drop the car. You still pay the ticket but don't get towed.

So, you broke the law, and the city/tow truck enforced the law. What's the problem? Do they have a duty to attempt to locate you? No. Should they give a grace period after 4:00? Should it be 4:05? 4:10? 6:00? No. The sign says no stopping from 4 to 6. What about that don't you understand?
