Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Well it goes like this. I purchased my TV in Jan. 2007, it would go off and on at random.  I called customer service who said since the TV comes on, there was no problem.  After two years of this the TV died.  I gathered the model number, and serial number.  I then took it to one of their authorized repair facilities,  the repair facity did'nt even make a work order or test the TV.  They told me just by the serial number that the particular power suplies were bad and no replacements were being made.  I also asked him for the power supply part number so I could give it to RCA customer service.  I called customer service, I kid you not I was transfered eight times before I was transfered to a company called DEX, who I guess does service and exchanges, I gave them all the information (including the power supply number).  They verified the power supply problem and after verifing my registration card, which they insisted I attached the receipt to,  they came up with a pro rate fo a new TV $99 and some change (which of course was charged to my credit card (within an hour).  I didn't mind this fee since I did have the TV for two years. Now here comes the kicker I was told by Yolanda that I would receive my new TV in five days and that when I received it I would put the old TV in it and affix a prepaid postage sticker and send the old one back.  Well five days came and went, so I called back Yolanda at 1-877-297-8391 and her whole story changed.  Now they wanted the old TV back at my cost for shipping $185.59 then they would send me my new TV. Well now I am over $300.00 in the hole.  I can see where this is going #1 UPS will not insure TV's because parts inside can shake loose (uh huh).  So I figure that REX will find something else wrong so they don't have to send me a new TV and I am out shipping costs,  I also only have 30 days left now to file a complaint with my credit card company for the pro-rate and REX will take this long if not longer to send me my new TV.   #2 I can see my new TV comming in substandard packing, no insurance and probably not working.  Heh they probably will expect me to pay shipping back to them again.

I should mention here that I have an associate degree in electronics an a masters in computer science as well as being a certified system engineer with microsoft.  So their implication that I have no knowledge of electronics and business is BS.

They know that they have you by the (use your imagination),  They want you to shell out all this money, not reimburse you or send you the TV.

Since it would cost more to hire a lawyer than buy a new TV they really have you.

On a buyer beware note check out a company you buy from very carefully not just by this site, (even though it is very good) but look up who actually owns and operates the company.  I bought a RCA TV, found it was owned by thompson who sold it to TTE, (who lets you only leave a message and doesnt get back to you),  who then either farms out or owns (not clear on the relationship) to a company called REX.  So becarefull what you buy, it may be a boat anchor.
