During the summer of 2009, I was approached by and individual who knew of a record company that was getting underway and was looking for audio engineers.  I decided to investigate further and was introduced to Red Cord Records in Rockford, IL.  I intially met Joey Mathews (owner) and Zach Svoboda (artist).  Zach had moved to Rockford with his newly married wife to begin production on his new album.  We recorded as Zach's house which was on the south side of Rockford off of Sandy hollow somewhere around 26th st. (give or take).  I also enlisted the help of my dear friend and colleage, Nick Laho considering he is an extrememly competent audio engineer.  To make a long story short, myself and Nick tirelessly ran recording sessions, edited, produced, and mixed the material for Zach's album with the understanding that we would be compensated for our time and efforts.  In short, we were never paid a dime for our efforts, and found our interaction with Joey Mathews to be beyond unpleasant.  Never once did he thank us or pay us for our hard work, rather, he seemed to be more concerned with the "legal" aspects of the process which I found ironic.  I believed he had a legal obligation to pay for work received, but never did.  Furthermore, I also took great exception to the fact that he was trying to pass himself of as "a christian" who was promoting a christian label.  Somehow I think Jesus would have made sure I had gotten paid as agreed.  If you are thinking about working in any capacity with Red Cord records, please do yourself a favor and have no interaction with this illegitamate business who uses christianity as camoflague for ripping people off.
