This company's Contractor webpage states:

Highest Quality Leads

ReliableRemodeler.com verbally qualifies all project details with the homeowner prior to providing them to our members.

I tried using ReliableRemodeler's service for a few months and found that they do not in fact contact Homeowners to qualify leads, and they refuse to call Homeowners when asked to do so by a Contractor to clarify what the Homeowner actually wants.

ReliableRemodeler's refusal to qualify leads means that they are falsely advertising to Contractors who are their customers and pay for the unqualified leads.

90% of internet leads are worthless because:

(1) Homeowners are just fishing for a price with no intention of actually performing the work.

(2) Homeowners have no idea of what construction work costs and are shocked to find out.

(3)Homeowners cannot afford to pay for design much less the work itself.

(4) The scopes of work described in the leads are usually incorrect or only partially true.

(5) The "ready to hire a Contractor" tag line attached to each leads is wishfull thinking at best, and bait and switch at worst.

The reason that Contractor referral services such as ReliableRemodeler.com refuse to qualify leads is that if they did, the services would quickly discover that 90% of the leads are bogus and without value. This would severely limit the remaining product that they have to sell to Contractors, which is the business that they are in.

These Contractor referral services are run by computer geeks who have never been on a jobsite, have no construction background, and wouldn't know what questions to ask of a Homeowner. Their only interest is in how many leads they can sell to a Contractor and charge to his credit card. Whether or not a lead has any value to a Contractor is of no concern to them.

The concept of selling qualified Homeowner leads to Contractors is a good one. Unfortunately, neither ReliableRemodeler nor any of the other Contractor Referral services qualifies their leads to screen out the 90% that are bogus.
