Went into the store with my daughter who wanted to get a bedroom set. She picked out the set she thought she wanted and proceeded to complete the paperwork. She was informed the they had a promotion going which was free until February 3, 2007 (3 weeks of no payments).

After going home and thinking about it my daughter came to the conculsion she did not want the merchandise at which point she called on January 8, 2007 and cancelled the order with Clifford Muse. That should have been the end of the contract and no more need to deal with RentaCenter Boston Ave Store.

But then a phone call comes on January 10, 2007 when another employee calls me to see when would be the best time to deliver the merchandise to my daughter. I informed this person the account was cancelled with Clifford Muse on Monday. And she was just waiting for them to reverse the charge to her credit card for the deposit she made. He said okay he will see to it the order is cancelled.

Then came January 13, 2007 and yet another call comes to me saying the payment is due today. I call the store back and first get Virginia (who you do not understand due to her very deep spanish accent, she proceeds to hang up on me when I asked for Craig the person that left the message on my phone, she did this because I would not give her my name. When I called back I spoke with Glenn, who was the most helpful of them all, he said he would take care of this.

This morning January 15, 2007 Clifford Muse calls my phone leaves a message then calls my daughters cell phone to tell her she owes for two weeks and needs to come and make her payment.She told him she spoke to him and cancelled the order, he pretended to be surprised with this.

But I am more surprised with the fact the merchandise would have still been free until the February 3, 2007 date so why would he be calling. Could it be to put the money in his pocket, since he has had problems in the past with finances. When I called the store to speak to him and really let him know I am sick of this and want the calls and request for payment to stop. He said when she brings her receipt in then they will take care of the matter. I gave him a few choice words, at which point he told me to get myself right and try calling back.

When I requested the number for the corporate office I received not one but two numbers that did not work. Then was told they have no way to get in touch with corporate they have to wait until Scott, who is the area lead promotions manager to contact them. Now why would they think someone with a brain would believe that. The RentaCenter business is s clear rip off to those that do not clearly understand their rights, this does not include me. My next stop is Attorney Blumenthal.
