Rentacenter - Lesley Cummingham store manager in 1996 Ripoff! Birmingham Alabama
in 1996 lesley cummingham, store manager of rentacenter (at that time)the north b'ham store,put a judgement against me and i didn't know anything about it. When i found out about the judgement, he had been fired from rentacenter.(he worked at rentacenter in 1996, that's where the judgement was put on me). since then he has worked at bestway rental and it was told to me that he was fired from there and now he is currently working back another rentacenter in 5 points west(birmingham al).
How i found out about the judgement? I pulled my credit report(sept 2003)this was my first time hearing about this. i then went to rentacent in north b'ham (27th str. no.) and they couldn't find anything on me in their computer. they even called their corporate office and they couldn't find anything on me either - nothing but my name and address. so see if you could help me clear my name and get my credit record straight. Maybe you could tell me what to do or who to call, or who to talk to. thankyou,

Sharon, This kind of thing happens to me all the time. A simple letter to the three major credit bureaus (or at least the bureaus reporting the account) explaining that this is not yours should fix the problem. I usually write There is an account on my credit file named whatever. This is not mine, please remove it. The credit bureau will then forward your dispute to Rentacenter. They have 30 days to respond with verification that the account is indeed valid. If they dont respond within the time frame the credit reporting agency will remove the entry from your file.
