I called Resorts International on 3/22/04 to sign up for them to rent out my Mayan Palace timeshare weeks, for a one time fee of $299. I was to get a contract in 7 to 21 days. I didn't get the contract but was charged the $299.

I called and emailed several times. Some of the times were on 4/13, 4/17 & 6/4. On 3/16/05, I Sent letter to Mayan Palace complaining about their recommending RI and told them of all the problems.

4/12/05 I called Resorts International (RI) and asked for a supervisor. I was told to call back after 1:00. I did and was told to send email to [email protected] where a supv. was working. Got no response. 4/13/05 Sharon w/Mayan Palace called and said she would call (RI). Shortly, Jason w/RI called. He found our account but no paper work. He said that he'd give us priority status and put us at the top of the list to get our weeks rented and get a contract out to us.

Shortly after, I received the contract dated 4/13/05, signed it and returned it. 7/6/05 None of our weeks had rented even though we were told we were at the top of the list. I sent email to RI and asked them to refund my money. No response. I emailed again on 8/11 & 12/7.

In 2006 I called RI on 1/18, 1/19 , 1/25, 1/26 I would ask for a supervisor and get sent to email, have my name taken for someone to call or would be left on hold for up to 20 minutes.

Everytime I've called except the first call and the call from Jason, the employees have been rude.

Only once did a manager call back and she left a message to call her but didn't give her direct number. I called back to the main number I was on hold for 20 minutes.

They haven't rented any of my weeks even though they told me they'd put us at the front of the line. I would NEVER have signed the contract unless Jason had said we'd be next in line.

I'm thoroughly disgusted with them. The Mayan Palace has dropped them from their list of recommended companies because they've had so many complaints.

RI employees are incompetent, rude and deceptive. I want my $299 back or to have them rent at least 2 of my weeks for the $1479/week that they promised.

I filed a BBB which serves Southeast Florida and the Caribbean on 10/26/06 and they sent me a letter on 12/12/06 saying that they company had not responded to their 2 requests.

Janet in Chicago posted a report Jan 2007 and says that for her Mayan Resorts weeks "ALL my need have been met." One has to assume that she is trying to say that all her weeks have rented. Don't believe that!!! I've had my Mayan weeks listed since March 2004 and have not rented ONE. She further says that we who have filed reports just have buyers remorse and that we just have to have someone to blame. Now how is it that she's rented all hers and I haven't rented any of mine, nor have either of my 2 friends that have them listed with RI?? "Janet" obviously is an employee or is friends with someone there. Don't believe that post.
