Rikers Roadside Service this company scams people out of 100's with extra fees with out notice! Orlando Florida
About a year and a half ago my husband had a near fatal car accident and his car rolled and caught on fire, obviously totaled the car. The police at the scene had the car towed. Okay, all is well, cancelled the insurance and move on. Well, I try to renew my registration in Feb of 2009 and I have a wreckers lien on my registration. So I call and find out the company ..Rikers, and call to find out what I owe them, even though I never got a single bill or notice.
Honestly, though this may be stupid on my part, I assumed I would get a bill and when I didn't I figured the tow company sold the car for scrap and that's how they get their money. Well, when I call a woman named Hilda answered and was about as rude to me as anyone has ever been. First she would not give me any information unless I had the last 6 of the VIN of the car that was towed..well this is a year and a half later, and I don't have the VIN anymore. So several more calls to the DMV and the tax collector. I get the information and call Hilda back. Again, she's extremely rude. The bill is $558 ..25 a day for storage!! I mean, the car was burned beyond recognition along with being rolled twice ..why on earth would they store it..let alone not letting me know or giving me the option to tell them I don't want it stored in order to mitigate my damages!!
So, I ask Hilda to please fax me a bill or something for my records so that when I get the money order to send them they will know where to apply it. SHE REFUSED!!! She absolutely would not give me one thing, she would not mail a document, or fax a document. She claimed she was not spending any more money on this account. I could not believe it. She then told me that if I mailed a money order they would not send me the originals that I need in order to get the lien off my registration so that I can renew it, that i will have to wait until they "get around" to cashing the money order to make sure it clears! Unbelievable. They jack up the cost first and now will cost me more money to renew my registration because it will be late. I offered to give a fed ex account number so she could overnight the documents to me at my expense and again she would not.
It's companies like this that drive our economy into the pits of despair by feeding on people who have their back against the wall. They don't have to be nice to their customer because we either pay or we can't renew our registration. They should have a cap put on how much they can charge..500 bucks to tow my car..and she admitted they sell them for scrap, so they made a good amount of money from my husbands misfortune, I'd hate to think of the people who are unlucky enough to die in an accident and then those left behind to deal with people like this.
