While trying to pick up my prescription, there was a problem and the full price was coming up as what I owed. I have a $25.00 copay and my deductible was met long ago. I told the clerk and he in turn went to the pharmacist to tell her. She said I had to pay the amount because that is what my insurance gave. I told her I had the same mistake a few days prior to this, and all she had to do was call Blue Cross and they would over ride it. She refused to call Blue Cross or even help me at all. I have been going to this pharmacy for over 20 years.

To add insult to injury, the Manager Robert told me that she did NOT have to call if she didn't want to. I am asthmatic and walked out without my medication. I went home and called Blue Cross myself and they told me of a problem they were having. The woman fixed it so I would not have to deal with that again.

Shortly after that, a man from Wellpoint called to tell me it wasn't Rite Aids fault. I stated to him that while the glitch was not their fault, the refusal to help me was and that is why I was so angry.

What happened to the person that did this to you. Are they still there. I should hope at the least they apologized for the lack of customer service and do whatever they can to help from now on

i cant believe the pharmacist did this. it IS his or her job to make sure the patient gets the best care. thats what their paid for. i would have been mad too. as for the other person ... how is this the patients fault? pharmacists call doctors and insurance companies all the time. ive NEVER had this problem with a pharmacy. im also an asthmatic and i would have been furious if i didnt get my much needed meds.

Pharmacy Manager Stated It Is Their Responsibility

I spoke with the Pharmacy Manager and it is their responsibility to do whatever is possible to serve the customer, as that is their job. Pharmacies call Dr. offices and insurance all the time and there should never be a point when they refuse to serve a customer, regardless. Rite Aid also contacted me and stated just the same to me. I should NOT have to pay the full price when it is wrong-it is the duty of the pharmacist to follow up if the customer has issue with something. It is not the patients responsibility to do this.

Perhaps you misunderstood

It is NOT Rite Aid's responsibility to deal with your personal insurance company -- especially if this is an ongoing issue that you still have not corrected, as it wastes the pharmacist's time. You did NOT have to leave without your medicine. You could have paid for the medication and then sought reimbursement from your insurance company -- the same as the rest of us would do. Better yet, you would do something to resolve this ongoing problem so that it does not recur. Perhaps this will be your "wake up call" to handle your responsibilities appropriately.
