Complaint Review: Rite Way Auto Transport - Coral Springs Florida

I am a former employee of this company and I have to say I should have listened to my gut during the first week or so of employment. First off, what they do to their customers. This company hires "account executives" which are technically unlicensed telemarketers. An account executive is a person who maintains relationships with their customers, not just calls them up, feed them a bunch of crap, take their credit card information and disappear. Their goal is to make money, not satisfy their customers and I personally don't agree with that.

When one of the telemarkers first calls you, they will tell you that they're the largest transport company in the US and own autoshipping to so and so.com and specialize in a particular route. That autoshippingto_____ website is used to bait people in. They do NOT specialize in any route, they have an autoshippingto____ website for every state and use that to make people believe they're official. After the telemarketer hears that you're interested, they will "transfer" you to his or her dispatch manager which is just another salesman walking around the room waiting to take a "transfer" Which we called a T.O.

This company will tell you that the lowest price wont get your vehicle shipped and some companies out there will draw you in with a lower price, then raise the price later down the road and come up with some excuse. In a sense, that's true, but what they don't tell you is that price they quote you at doesn't all go to the driver, the deposit itself goes directly to Rite Way. That deposit can range from at least 25% of what the company quotes you, the rest goes to the driver. THAT'S the reason their prices are so high. Their are better companies out their who actually have trucks (Rite Way is just a broker) and don't have broker fees, which is what the deposit is. 

Regarding the company being partnered with the military. I'm in the Army reserves and when I first heard that, I couldn't help but laugh. There is no such thing as a military discount, nor does the company ship vehicles for DoD (which is in the sales pitch) They give the same discounts for military members as they do for everyone else which is usually $50-$100 off just to get you to give them your credit card information.

Now on to how they treat their employees. Out of the 30 or so employees in the sales department, only 5 or so of them were there for more than 3 months. When I was let go (not making enough sales) I waited until pay day to pick up my check, the owner (Jeff) told me he didn't know I would be receiving one even though I worked and made commission for an entire pay period. After a few days of going back and forth, they finally caved in and payed me. It was less than what I actually made but I didn't feel like fighting it any longer. 

All in all, I would not recommend Rite Way Auto Transport for employment, or transporting your vehicle. There are so many better options out there from companies that actually OWN trucks and aren't just brokers.
