My van broke down outside of Idaho Falls which Dynamic Towing picked up. They recommended River City Auto Repairs to do the work which now understand is run by their mother/mother in law. The issue was crushed wheel bearings on the driver side which is an approx $100 repair job, 1hr job. They repair this and add in an extra unnecessary part with a 4 hr labour bill! $395 later I collect the car and it's now making a sound on the passenger side which sounds like something is loose and sliding around. They take the van back for another day promising to pick me up in the morning to show me the underside of the van to show me what they think will fix the new noise. They not only fail to do this but start putting on a whole lot of new parts without asking me for authorisation! Another $295 and they send me on my way. The sound persists but by this stage I know I've been conned and do not wish to go back.

The alignment shop recommended by them down the road advise me that the mechanic had to ring them multiple times asking for advice on how to do things. They hear the noise but do not know what it is. They advise the mechanic has bent my backing plate which might be scraping the rotar and try to move it back in place. 2.5 hours down the road my van is now making a very loud clunking sound on the passenger side. A mechanic in Dillon advises that the mechanic did not properly put the upper ball joint in properly, most likely because he didn't have the right tools, and one of the nuts was stripped bare. Justin slso advises the backing plate has been damaged and tries to put it back in place. Justin is unable to correct either noises. Clunking noise occurs mainly when stopping and turning. A further mechanic looks at the van in Choteau MT.

He confirms the sound and spends an hour looking for the cause of the loud clunking sound passenger side but cannot locate the cause. The sound is reproduced when rocking the van up and down. They express regret that I've been had by the original mechanic noting all the new parts and damage and tell me not all mechanics ate like this. The original mechanic was clearly incompetent and has damaged my vehicle. In addition, the owner has taken advantage knowing I'm a single female travelling from interstate and not only charged me for unnecessary work but has seemingly permanently damaged my vehicle.
