In Nov. 2014 RMH Wood Restorations was hired to Restore my 1800 square foot Log Home by stripping the old finish and stain using Permachink Ultra 7 and seal with Lifeline Advance exterior Topcoat. This job took him 6 weeks to complete after giving and estimate of 10-14 days. His crew consisted of his wife and a local young man. There were issues through out the process with shoddy work and were brought to his attention and he couldnt repair them to my satisfaction. This included the chauking of the half logs on the garage, chaulking around the light fixtures and the repair of a couple of logs that had some rot issues. I requested two coats of stain and he stated the warranty from Permachink required only one coat. With the house totaly stripped and some new wood window frames installed 2 coats only made sense. I totally lost confidence in recieving the quality work I was promised and couldnt wait until he completed the job.
When he did complete the job, the shiney clear coat covered all the flaws in his workmanship that appeared in six months and this when I called him with my initial complaint. He was paid in full and that was my major mistake, secondly, I should have stopped the job after the caulking compalaint.
When he arrived to look at the house instead of wanting to please me, the contractor continued to state he was proud of the job and cant see the issues. He took notes and said he will meet with experts and get back with me.
I notified a Regional Permachink Representive that is very experienced and I forwarded pictures of the job to him and recieved a response that I should get my money back because the work is very substandard and the warranty from Permachink would be void. I recieved the same response from other contractors in the Log Home restoration buisness.
I have given RMH numerous months to make the repairs or refund the labor costs and only recieved the response to touch up and on numerous occasions he hung up on our phone calls. I had to go to the BK Cypress Log Home Company that recommended his service prior to the purchase of the house to talk some sense into him to save his reputation. BK Cypress even came to the house and agreed on the poor workmanship. With no response, I finally wrote up a poor review on his Company facebook and he responded that we were breaking the law by doing this and he had placed a restraining order and filed criminal charges against my wife and I and was placed on his facebook page for all his customers to see.
So here we are... filing this report and to move forward with a civil suit. I am out $15000 dollars and all I have to show for it is a lesson learned and do not want to see others ripped off by this company. The last thing we wanted to do is screw up somebodies livelyhood but he left us no choice by ignoring his own "Mission Statement" for customer satisfaction.
