In 2005 we contracted Rocky Mountain Overseas to move our property from Charlotte, NC to France. The contract specified the Vendee area. When our property arrived via container ship from the United States because the paperwork had not been received from Rocky Mountain the French Customs impounded the container until the correct documents were received. After the paperwork was received the French Customs charged us 1200 euros ($1680). Rocky Mountain refused to reimburse and and denied all responsibility.

Our property was then transferred to IMFrance the agents of Rocky Mountain in Paris until we purchased a property. When we did we purchased property in Brittany in the Dinan area about 150 miles north of the Vende. When we requested IMFrance to move our goods from their warehouse they sent us a bill for approx 4000 euros ($5600). The contract with Rocky Mountain was door to door with no hidden extras. The basis for the IMFrance charge was that we had changed the destination to Brittany from the Vendee. This was nonsense as the Dinan location of our house was some 100 miles closer to Paris than the Vendee. They also refused to tell us where our property was located until we paid up so we were held to ransom. Rocky Mountain's attitude with much hand wringing was again to not reimburse us. We had a fairly good idea our property was in Paris in a warehouse at their office location. Finally we contracted another mover Tower to retrieve our property from the warehouse. IMFrance were less than cooperative refusing to confirm the location of our property and then when they did being obstructive towards Tower's men sent to load and transfer to our house. We almost had to contact the Paris Police. IMFrance were crooks in our view and Tower confirmed they did not have a good reputation in the industry in France. In the end we recieved our property at a costly price some $7280 over what we paid Rocky Mountain which in our view they still owe to us.

If you would care to read the Rocky Mountain claims and guarantees on their website I aks you to draw your won conclusions to whether they lived up to them.
