In June of 2015 I was very ill and was unable to work.  I had 3 credit card bills that totalled about $23,000, and I was very scared that I would be unable to pay them because  I was out of work.  I heard about a Debt Settlement Program on the radio that claimed to help you pay off your credit card debt in a short period of time, and paying only half the debt.  I assumed because it was on the radio it was credible.  I called and was assigned to Roncor Group.  The worst mistake of my life!  They claimed they would work with and settle with the credit card companies, and that all I had to do was give them $523 a month for the next 2-3 years and they would pay off all my debt and do all the communicaton with the credit card companies.  This was far from the case.  The credit card companies called repeatedly for months and I told them I was represented by Roncor and to call them, as Roncor told me to do.  I would often call Roncor to check on my status because they never once contacted me, and they would always just say everything was fine.  This was if when I called Roncor I could actually speak to someone, and not be on hold for up tp an hour only to be hung up on.  This scenerio was always the case, and speaking to someone at Roncor was almost always impossible.

Roncor did not contact any of my credit card companies until the credit card companies actually SUED me.  This was devastating!  After receiving the first legal notice I called Roncor immediately, and it wasn't until then that they attempted to make a settlement.  Between the time period of June 2015 and June 2017 I was sued two times by Bank of America and once by Citi Bank.  Roncor used the money they had been collecting from me to pay for the first settlement of about $4,000 and then after 2 years said that I had no money in my account to pay for anymore settlements.  At this point, my account should have totaled close to $15,000.  They said all the money went to monthly fees and lawyer costs.  I am not sure where the lawyer costs came from because they did not do anything to help me!

In the end by June 2017, I had to pay $8,000 out of my own pocket for one of the settlements, and over $2,000 out of pocket to settle the last credit card.  Dealing with Roncor was the most stressful, upsetting, and most awful experience I have ever had.  The worst feeling was when I realized I had been ripped off and scammed!  I trusted this company and was trying to do the most responsible thing I could when I sick and unable to work.  I contacted Citibank and Bank of America to settle my debt out of pocket and they told me that they had tried many times to contact Roncor and could never reach anyone. They suggested I contact a lawyer because of the way Roncor took my money, and explained that I have rights and was ripped off!  They also said to never deal with a small, hole in the wall company all the way in California, such as Roncor.

I am trying to forgive myself for being scammed and ripped off, and am currently paying off more debt than I started with because of Roncor.  I lost many nights of sleep worried and scared, and feel as though this experience has taken years off of my life with the stress it caused.  My husband took my name off of my mortagage because my credit is so terribly bad because of the way Roncor handled my account, and never actually contacted the credit card companies as they mislead me to believe they were doing.  My credit score is extremely low, and it will be years to try to build it back up, and hopefully be back to normal.  I am a responsible, hardworking, mother and wife, and wish I could go back in time and not have used Roncor.  Please take my advice and do not make the same mistake I did!
