Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I was hired a few weeks ago by David Snow of Ronin Risk International. He is supposed to be the director of Southwest Operations.

Well I sensed a problem when the guy was working out of a Kinkos in order to conduct interviews. I said well what the heck maybe its some new lean business technique.

The problem started for me when after 2 weeks of work we did not recieve our paychecks the following Friday. The payroll ended on January 30, 2005 and after I complained the guy paid us on February 9, 2005, via Fed-Ex, some 9 days after the close of payroll. He apologized and said it was because of the Mardi Gras holidays and fron now on we would receive a check every other Monday.

By the way I am in Louisiana and they are doing business here in Baton Rouge.

Finally the payroll ended on February 13 for the weeks of Jan. 31st to Feb 13th. We expected our checks on the 21st of February to no avail. I contacted my Supervisor, who is one of the employees and asked where were the checks. He said Mr. Snow contacted him and said we would be paid February 28th.

Now I am not the smartest person in the world. However I have never worked for a Company that pays bi-weekly or closes its pay periods bi-weekly and pays a person some 17 days after the books close. Essentially one is working an entire month and only receiving 2 weeks of pay.

Needless to say I quit and contacted the Freight company where we provide security, Mr. Snow, Michael Petty the CEO of Ronin and had to threaten them with a legal suit in order to recieve my money.

Well they promised I would receive it on the 25 of Feb.

I will inform you all later.

Re: Ronin Risk International Deceptive Payroll Practices Los Angeles California

#3UPDATE EX-employee responds

Mon, December 29, 2008

My name is David Snow, I am the former Southwest Operations Manager for Ronin Risk International. I worked for Ronin Risk as a contract employee, responsible for new sites, operations, and consulting. I had no direct control over the payroll or when a particular employee would or would not be paid. I submitted hours to the corporate offices who was responsible for the distribution of paychecks and their timeliness. In regards to Mr. Baker's issues, when I interviewed Mr. Baker, I explained the payroll process and showed him specific dates on the calendar when he was scheduled to be paid according to Ronin's corporate policies. I informed Mr. Baker that with a new location starting up there is always lag time between the initial pay period and when the checks would arrive. Generally hours would be collected for two weeks and then paychecks would be issued two weeks later. I showed Mr. Baker a calendar and stated, "Time ends and is collected on this date and Paychecks are issued on this date." Mr. Baker verbally acknowledged this with me on the date of the initial interview. I did this with all of the new hires for this location. Mr. Baker started work and work a few shifts and began to inquire and demand to know when the checks were coming. My response was when they are scheduled and processed by the corporate office. Mr. Baker stated that was not fast enough and he needed his check sooner. I advocated for Mr. Baker and the other employees at the Ronin Risk corporate office and the employees paid at an earlier date than scheduled according to the Ronin payroll schedule. Upon receiving his check, Mr. Baker resigned and demanded that he paid the remaining hours immediately. Another separate check was issued to Mr. Baker which was sent via Federal Express directly to him which he did not include in this report. In regards to the payroll schedule, I followed Ronin Risk's schedule and only submitted hours to be processed. All other decisions were made at the corporate level by Ronin Risk International. I had no signatory or officer authority with the company, all decisions were made above my level. During my tenure at Ronin Risk, I continually advocated for employees. Thank you, David Snow
