Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

on Tuesday february 6, 2018 we purchased a 2005 chevy silverado 2500hd we paid 11,200 cash and on friday february 9, 2018 we had to park the truck we called a diesel mechanic near us and we are paying almost $1,800 to have it fixed. They told us when we got it that everything was all set and it runs great took it for test drive seemed alittle rough but thought thats cause it was diesel. We called the dealership that we bought it at and they said that they didnt work with any outside mechanics and they werent going to pay for it to be towed to them so we told them how much it was going to cost and michael the manager said that we bought it as is which we understand but they said nothing was wrong with it at all that they had there mechanic go over it real good. They refuse to answer our calls or to even speak with us.  But i did a carfax on it and in aug 2017 they had it for sale for $4,500 then when we looked at it in february 2018 they had it for $16,000 but said it was on sale for $9,800 something isnt adding up.

Did you have the vehicle inspected prior to purchasing it?

#2Consumer Suggestion

Fri, March 23, 2018

As harsh as this is going to sound, it is to help you on your next vehicle purchase. When you purchase a new vehicle, it comes with a bumper to bumper new vehicle warranty. Duration & mileage vary by manufacturer but is there to protect the consumer from failures with the vehicle. When you purchase a used vehicle that exceeds the particular manufacturer's warranty, the protection for the consumer lies with the consumer. There are some very simple & common sense ways for the consumer to do this.

  1. HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AT AN INDEPENDANT REPAIR FACILITY. Every dealership in the country will allow you to inspect the vehicle yourself or take it to a repair facility if you don't have the expertise to inspect it yourself. If they won't, you shouldn't purchase at that dealership.
  2. PURCHASE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. That will allow you to have most of the same protections that you get with a new car purchase. If the vehicle you are interested in purchasing has a ton of miles on it or is several model years old, it may not be eligible for a warranty or one that covers very much. Common sense should tell you if a warranty company will not give coverage or very little coverage, you should take the time to make sure the vehicle is sound.
  3. TAKE RESPONSIBILTY FOR NOT DOING ANY OF THE ABOVE. If the dealership told you the sky was red, would you just say "well they said the sky was red" and be mad when you looked up to see that it s blue?
  4. DEALERS CAN PRICE VEHICLES FOR HOWEVER MUCH THEY WANT AND CHANGE THAT AS OFTEN AS THEY WANT. It is up to you to decide if a deal is fair by being an educated consumer.

Use common sense and all this can be avoided most of the time.
