About 8 years ago, I purchased a new vehicle from Ford. About 13 months into the loan, I had to have the car repossesed due to financial difficulties from a messy divorce. Ford sent the account to Rubin and Rothman for them to try and collect money from me. After 16+ months of failed negotiations with Rubin and Rothman, they decided to freeze my bank account, and refused to unfreeze it unless I made payment arrangement's under their terms. Knowing I needed my money to survive, I accepted their terms, and started making payments. As soon as I got the money, I stopped paying again. HERE'S MY ADVICE TO YOU - They CAN NOT freeze a bank account UNLESS a judge signs something that allows them to. Call them up and ask them to mail you a copy of the paper with the judge's signature. If they do mail it to you, than you are out of gas. If they refuse, than they most likely dont have anything signed. What I would suggest doing is when you call them, try and record the conversation so you have some proof to show a lawyer.
