I purchased and paid in full for a Cypress bathtub from this company via Ebay in 2006. After numerous and futile attempts to contact this company afterwards with no sucess, I was told there was a delay. Only after threatening to challenge the payment via Paypal did I get any response.

After this, I was told that the maker (woodtubs.net) was going to drive to my home in Florida with his whole family to make a delivery. This delivery never occurred and I am sure that this bathtub never even existed. I challenged the payment via Paypal, however, I only received 500.00 of my money from this seller.

Paypal is no help and will not provide any information regarding this seller, and even though they ruled in my favor, they have still not taken his Paypal logo from his account.

Opinion on matter still stands

Due to the simple fact that I did not receive the bathtub I paid for and Paypal's ruling, I stand by my opinion. No further communication with this individual and/or company has been made regarding this matter after Paypal's ruling. It was only in the interest of protecting others that I filed this report. The only satisfaction I could get from this company would be to receive my money owed. Otherwise, my opinion stands. The following was what was reported to paypal on the claim filed for information purposes only. My item was paid for via Paypal on June 22, 2006. I received an invoice marked paid. I was told my bathtub would take 3-5 weeks for completion. Seller does not respond to email for weeks at a time. Now seller has said that said wooden bathtub will be delivered August 7th. Due to the untimeliness of his emails and poor communication, along with Paypal's dispute and claim time period, I am filing this dispute.

We ARE a small company. We ARE a family company. I will NOT apologize for that. It's an absolute blessing that we can spend so much time together doing something that we love. When Ms. Johnson filed a 'complaint' with Paypal, they seized her payment and froze our account. We told her that we needed to ship the tub, but she would have to cancel her complaint because she had our money tied up by Paypal. She refused. We offered to deliver it in person, but would need payment. She refused because Paypal had her money in limbo. They wouldn't give it to us and wouldn't give it back to her. We tried desperately to reason this with her, but she made increasingly threatening and unreasonable claims. Paypal and Ebay have a policy of 10 day shipping, even though the auction and our agreement said 4-6 weeks. They didn't side with her because she was right, but because that's simply their policy. Ms. Johnson's complaint to Paypal and eBay caused us a lot of grief by shutting down our only sales outlet at the time. Again, we tried to reason with her to no avail. On 8/18/06, Ms. Johnson wrote: Wow, how strange that your phone number given is invalid and there is no phone number on your website. On 8/19/06, I replied, That's because some INSANE customer cancelled her order prematurely, yanked $1100 out of our paypal account and sent our entire system into turmoil. The cell phone# is good, but it's been shut off for lack of payment. Same with Paypal, eBay, our bank account, soon to be the electricity and rent, and everything else that I use to support my family. Because of this CRAZY woman, ebay suspended our account and a mass exodus of order cancellations began. If this customer is as INSANE as I think she is, I'm sure she'll get great pleasure in knowing that she singlehandedly headed our life towards bankruptcy. She DEFINITELY needs counseling and medication! -- It's a bit harsh, I know. I was very angry with Ms. Johnson. We had worked very hard to keep up our end of the bargain, to make her a beautiful tub for her needs. It was so frustrating that one unreasonable woman could crash everything we had worked so hard for. -- She replied on 8/20/06: And this customer also never received her refund due. Wow, if $500 sended you towards bankruptcy, that is sad. I will not be contacting you any further and the FBI whom I reported [email protected] will handle it from here on the Internet Fraud Crime Divison. On 8/23/06, I replied: OK. Ms. Johnson not only caused us quite a bit of pain and hardship by breaching our contract, but is now also guilty of libel and defamation of character. We've tried to let this entire situation go and move on with our lives, but I'm afraid that now it's time that we make some phone calls of our own.

It amazes me how professional this guy sounds now. To quote a previous email from him, "You single handedly threw my family into bankruptcy". Where is this "company"? Does his company consist of his family he was bringing to my home with this tub? His refusal to answer Paypal's repeated requests for an answer to his non-delivery and their final ruling in my favor says it all.

Ms. RJ's order

#8REBUTTAL Owner of company

Sun, April 29, 2007

On 6/22/06, Ms. RJ ordered a custom built bathtub and was told it would take 4-6 weeks to complete. After 5 weeks (7/31/06), she filed a complaint with Paypal and insisted on a refund. Ms. RJ's tub was completed, packaged, and ready to be shipped had she not cancelled her order. Our company tried settle the dispute, (even offering to bring it to her personally), but Ms. RJ was very unreasonable. We understand that Ms. RJ had bad transactions in the past and we tried to reassure her, unfortunately, to no avail. Our company put in a lot of materials and man-hours to complete this tub to her specifications and we stand by our decision to retain 50% deposit on this custom ordered tub.
