I am a veteran technical recruiter and found a great engineering candidate that wanted out of a Tier One Automotive manufacture in Detroit to find an automotive manufacture in California. I found Saleen Automotive who was in need of this specialized engineer and worked to make the introduction with Steve and Molly Saleen. After signing a contract with Molly Saleen, VP at Saleen, I introduced my engineering candidate. He interviewed and was hired.  In July, the candidate moved from Detroit to California to start working as their engineer.

During July and August I spent getting the run around from VP of Finance, Controller and CPA David Fiene as he continued to stall payment by first asking for copies of the contract (already on file) then “I will follow up and let you know” and “I’ll get with Steve tomorrow and get back to you.” This back and forth went on through August until emails and phone calls went unanswered to David Fiene, Steve Saleen, and Molly Saleen in September.

On October 1st 2013, I filed suit against Saleen and its principles for Breach of Contract and failure to pay, in the District Court of Clark County, Washington: dw.courts.wa.gov.

Sources close to Saleen say that this is not the first time Saleen has breached agreements with staffing firms. Saleen has also refused payment to several vendors and some suppliers have put Saleen on a C.O.D.  and cash only, according to sources.

I provided a professional service to Saleen, which was clearly spelled out in our agreement–there was no confusion–they need to honor their written agreements and pay their bills.  With the positive press Steve Saleen has received with The Saleen 351 and new ventures, I can’t image why he wouldn’t pay his bills, unless he is just dishonest or experiencing financial difficulty.

I provided a professional service to Saleen with a signed contract and Saleen principles, Steve Saleen and Molly Saleen, have completely ignored invoices and payment requests.

Warning: Don’t do business with Saleen Automotive or its officers–signed contracts mean nothing to them.

A repeat of 2009?
