Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Recently, a friend and I went to the Salvation Army Thrift Store and had a very awful experience in the lack of professionalism of stores nowadays.

My friend and I asked for the price for a new pack of cheaply made headphones and expecting a good deal, the idiot who we assume is that manager blurts out, "$3.50!" and they looked like they were from the 99 Cents Only Store.

We were appalled by his response but what really got my goat even further was that we were told that employees, not the management decides how much an item is worth.

The last time I checked, the Salvation Army thrift stores sold itmes at low prices and that proceeds go to people in need, not greed. I have decided not to ever go to that particular S.A. thift store because I am afraid I might blow up at their misguided manager.

Not only that, many of the employees they hire often are rude and unprofessional and the quality of the stuff is no good at all. To make matters worse, they overcharge too much money for books which used to be priced as low as 10 cents-$2.50 at the most.

Now, they charge as much as $10.00 for books!

This is not good at all and I will not stand for this anymore. I will complain to the corporate offices and demand that they get their act together or I will discourage anyone from patronizing their stores again!

Spirit, I am not writing this in "rebuttal" of your experience. It's been my impression, which well may be wrong, that Salvation Army employees are often people who are in halfway house and drug rehab programs. If that is the case, a lack of professionalism isn't unexpected. I don't agree that any employees should be allowed to be unprofessional, and if the SA employees ARE being transitioned from rehabilitation programs, yes, they need to be trained in customer service skills. Just thought that if this is true, and you weren't aware of it, maybe it would help you feel a little better to think that it wasn't ***you*** specifically they were being rude to. They just may not have any better skills, yet. Wishing you Happy Holidays!

You are so right I would never ever buy from the salvation army. When we needed assistance in the time of crisis they refused to assist my partner and myself at all. Well, I decided to take all my business to GOODWILL and when things started to improve in my life and they did, I did just that..I have moved to another state and gave them about 2000.00 worth of donations and with all my thanks. Salvation army is a big corporate giant who happens to like to hide behind the religious aspect of society. I wonder how much of their money goes to help the homeless? Like how much of 1.00 is spent?
