Complaint Review: Samantha Maria Arrington Juanita Maria Barnes - Brunswick Georgia

I had not seen Samantha in 30 yrs, since H.S. graduation, when she contacted me via email [found me on classmates.com] about needing a place to stay after a break-up in Pittsburgh, PA. She told me of her very interesting and "impressive" [or so I thought] past working for the "CIA" for 15 yrs, having a Harvard MBA, being a former Buffalo Bills Cheerleader and doing some very 'good things' for our country in the CIA. It did occur to me that people in the CIA do NOT talk about their experiences [unless they write books] in such graphic detail nor do they have problems, generally, obtaining or keeping jobs. But oh, the tales were tall! I was happy that a former classmate had done so well and wanted to know all about her exciting past but suspicion clouded my enthusiasm.

She said she had nowhere to go and needed a place to stay. I offered her my Victorian house in Brunswick GA b/c I felt compassion and deep sympathy. I pondered that if I were in that position I would hope someone would help me. The deal was, she lived there rent-free for 2 mos, only paying her cable, water/sewer/trash and electricity bills, then at the end of 2 mos, she would pay half [yes, only half] the mortgage as rent. I was really giving her a break until she got on her feet. She said she had just lost her job in Foreign Exchange at PNC Bank in Pittsburgh and had no money, no job, no place to go. Now, I was incredulous that someone who "supposedly" had done all she had done, had a Harvard MBA & worked for the govt would be in that position. When I became inquisitive and overly curious [sleuth that I am] there was always some excuse, reason or justification. I could NOT for the life of me figure it out but I suspected something was very wrong.

Boy did I find out! I finally got her out of my house at the end of Dec 07 after discovering my house left NASTY: thick, black dog hair clogging the 100 yr old claw foot bathrub, the sewerage pipes, etc, filthy furniture from who knows where, lamps I had left in the house with destroyed and burned shades [how does one do that?], deep scratches on my solid oak front door from animal claws, poop from a "pet tortoise" on my sleeping porch scattered and smeared all over it, on and on. I was sick to my stomach when I discovered the squalor she created in my beautiful Victorian house!! I cried.

I made her help me clean it. She showed up at 10 am with a HUGE McDonald's cup with Jack Daniels in it! AHA! I knew now what the problem was. Aside from my layman diagnosis of "multiple personality disorder". The girl told so many lies I couldn't imagine how they were conjured up so cleverly.

She owes me $300... I let her - out of the goodness of my heart [though quite idiotic on my part] - live there for over 2 mos FREE and SHE STILL STIFFED ME ON THE POWER BILL AND THE CHARGE FOR HAULING OFF THE NASTY SOFA by the City Public Works Dept. She wrote me cks, which were bad, of course, on a CLOSED or Never Even Opened PNC Bank acct. I called to ck on the acct and learned it didn't exist. I called Harvard and learned she didn't graduate from there with an MBA the yr she specified. Imagine that. *Could be another yr but I highly doubt it*.

Ohhh, I was mad. You don't spit in the face of someone giving you a FREE house and a break from your suffering! {Of her own doing}

Found out she practiced her scofflaw stuff again when she rented another house in the neighborhood --wrote the owner bad cks, trashed his house, stiffed him on several months of rent, yada yada yada... I had previously tracked him down and told him of my horrors with her. Eventually, sure enough, she did the same thing to him--but to the tune of over $1000 in bad cks. She also told me and this new landlord that she had landed a govt job teaching "finance" at FLETC, the Fedl Law Enforcement Training Ctr, which I surmised was a bold faced lie, too. Yep.

Bottom line: If you come across this shady lady, RUN to the police. Or if not that, RUN the other way and refuse to believe her ruse. She's Bad News!!

I wonder if she has other offenses nationwide [about a zillion addresses for her around the US] -- what does that mean?? Hhmm.

What is sad is that I tried to help her, tried to befriend her, tried to believe her fantastical stories out of respect. What I learned was that she is a con artist who is a pathological liar and has SERIOUS mental problems.

BEWARE. Don't try to be nice to this stone-cold, manipulative taker.

This was MY experience and I stand by my words.
