I made the choice late in life to go into another career field, San Joaquin advertised that they could get you started and not so much now, but they used to advertise a placement rate after you graduate that was pretty high. I went into the Health Care Insurance program expecting to learn what I needed to know to work in the industry. I did well in school, I maintained a 3.84, and made the Dean's list, but what I learned was not worth a $20,000 dollar loan. What they are teaching does not match up with what the medical insurance field is looking for. They ex-tern you into positions where all you do is that particular companies busy or dirty work. The people you meet when you first go in are salesman, they want to see your money, they will tell you what you want to hear.

The same program is offered through a local State funded program for just the cost of books alone, I found out about that too late. Was I place with a company when I graduated, No, No and No. My so called placement adviser started out by calling me twice a week with job leads, then once, then e-mails then nothing. Every job lead she sent me, I had already applied. I too like her was checking the job boards, and I would check facilities open job positions. I attended two job fairs, lol, those are a joke. It took me 7 months after graduating to even get my foot in the door of a Temp Agency. At least now I am working in an office where I am learning what I should have already learned. These places are a joke, and how they can be supported by Pell Grants  needs to be investigated. We had one major loss when the housing industry took a hit, what happens when all these students can't find a job to pay back the loans. Someone needs to do something about it, at least do not give them accreditation to call themselves a College.
