From around mid September to 3rd Jan this year I worked for Satori as their Senior Android Developer and prior to that as a contractor via elance to them.

While working through elance, a number of payments to them bounced - according to Andrew Taylor (the boss), it was down to them maxing his credit cards and so pay was roughly a week later than it should and usually required me running around for it. During this time other paying sources were tried (such as Payoneer) and at the start of September, I switched from elance to being full time with payment through payoneer.

There can be no claim that I did not earn my keep at Satori. On one project I was on holiday, camped in the middle of a field with an extremely slow and flaky network connection, yet was still able to fix a build and commit to svn - at 2am in the morning.

During September, payment became more sporadic and I had to borrow from my parents to pay my bills. Various promises were made and never kept. My contract was negotiated and was agreed over Skype (which I have documented) and this included my salary, holidays and taxes. I worked to this contract from the end of September.

October came and I think I had around $1000 of pay that month, despite working every day (including weekends). Novemeber and things were getting desperate. Andrew admitted to a short fall of cash (finally) and that he'd negotiated with a backer an extra amount of money if part of their project could be delivered. It wasn't as the person supposed to be delivering it kept vanishing for weeks on end and when he did come back, would blame all of the problems on other people. He was never once questioned.

I was offered a new job in December. Not an amazing job, but one that would pay the bills. I mentioned this to Andrew who sent over an invoice for around $26000 that was due to be paid, offering me $8000 to stay with the entire back pay and an attractive mac book pro as a thank you. Needless to say, it none of it arrived.

Finally, a statement detailing how they were to get out of the financial mess was presented which effectively said that back pay wasn't going to get paid, just slowed and to help write off the debt, back pay could be swapped for shares.

When I finally left in Jan, I was assured the back pay would be met. It hasn't. It's now July. Emails are unanswered and pretty much nothing is said.

The company is also quite dodgy when it comes to overseas workers. While I was there, they had the iOS chap from Greece and another Android dev from Macedonia. They also employ others from the EU. When they are introduced to clients, they are never referred to by their real names, but always American ones and if their accent is questioned, it's either a bad line or they have a cold (you can't make this up!)
