This business is an utter scam. They should be brought up on fraud charges and shut down. In August of 2011, googled "charter communications" and was unknowingly directed to a company called Savology. Believing that I was dealing directly with Charter, I listened to the special offer the salesman was pitching for a free Modem/Router after mail in rebate. It sounded like a decent offer, but they needed to charge the cost of the modem/router to my card and then would mail a check out afterwards.
I agreed to accept the offer and scheduled an appointment to have the technician come out to set up my internet. Everything went fine, I saved all of the paperwork and on August 19, 2011 I mailed in the rebate. Their rebate form stated "Allow up to four weeks for your reimbursement check to arrive. " No problem. I waited and waited for my rebate check and finally in October called Charter. I explained the situation to them and they told me I needed to contact Savology since they were the company who I made the agreement with.
That did catch me by surprise as I thought I had made this agreement with Charter. Still, I have owned and operated my own businesses for more than 20 years and I do a lot of work through distributors. So, I thought, this is probably a something similar to what I do and didn't spend too much time thinking about it beyond that. At any rate, I did what the Charter man suggested and called Savology. I was greeted by a recording that eventually offered me option # 4 to check the status of my rebate.
I listened to the message and now it was telling me that it could take up to 14 weeks from the date that the rebate was filed. So, I thought to myself, that's not a problem. I don't have to have the money right now as long as I get it eventually. So, I set up a reminder in my computer for 2 weeks after the 14 week mark. On January 13, 2011, I got my reminder. So, I called Savology to see what had happened to my rebate and spoke to Bryan.
Bryan claimed that they had not received my rebate in the mail and wondered if I had copies. Of course, I did and he asked me to fax him all 10 pages. He said if I could get them right over to him he could probably expedite the rebate for me and get the checks out in 3 to 4 weeks. Reluctantly, I agreed and we hung up. It too 4 attempts to get this fax to go through to them, but it finally went. So, I set up a new reminder in my computer for February 3, 2012 and when I hadn't seen or heard anything from Savology I called them. This time I spoke with Antonio Employee # 17453.
I went through the entire saga with him only to find out that they still "allegedly" did not have any record of my rebate being filed. He asked me if I had copies and if I could fax them to him. He promised that he would put his full attention to pushing this rebate through quickly. At this point I was beginning to get frustrated, but I agreed. Once again, it took 4 attempts to get this fax to go through. Could that possibly be a coincidence. On March 5, 2012 I decided to contact Savology again to see what the status of my rebate was.
This time I spoke to Edwyn. He put me on hold for almost 2 minutes and finally came back to tell me that the paperwork had been received on February 5 and that I would get my rebate in 10 - 16 weeks. I am not joking. I could not believe that a business that Charter Communications is in partnership with could engage in such fraudulent behavior. At this point, I have written this off as theft in my mind. Since, I bought two of the modem/router sets, the total rebate would have been for $259.70. I hope that someone in an authority position happens to read this and opens an investigation on them. Plain and simple they are a criminal organization.
