SBC has allowed Callwave to attach a bill to my phone bill, for a service of which I did not authorize

When I called SBC to ask about it & state that I did not ask nor want Callwave, I was told I would have to pay it or my basic phone service would be cut off!! CUT&DRY that is what the SBC Rep told me!(dec13 2004) Very rude!

Callwave is a download that says in it's add that it is free to try for 30 days & if not satisfied or not needed then just remove the software & that is that.

Now I know better than to mess with these things but my step son installed this onto Our home's second computer while he stayed with us & (with out my authorization)or knowledge or desire.

He was responsable enough to place it in his name.

But the Callwave company hasn't billed him even though I have given Callwave his address!

And as for the bill I did get, the Callwave company waited for a few months until it reached a good amount before actualy posting it to my S.B.C. bill. $25.00

And once I called Callwave, Via the PH# pasted to my SBC bill .

I was actualy able to speak with a Callwave Rep & I asked him if He had a way to see the date of the last call being forwarded to My PH# He said yes! He had a list of all calls forwarded to my PH#

So I asked him to tell Me the date of the last call forwarded to my PH# he said that it was in the month of (AUG 2004)

Then I asked him for the date of the first call that was forwarded to my PH# ,He said (JULY 2004)

Both were within the 30day Free Trial Period

I pointed this out to him & he stated yes I was correct & that he could see that it was only used during the Free Trial Period & that He would remove the bill & Terminate the service

NOT

The next month it had gone up from $25.00 to $38.00 so the bill obviously was not removed nor was the service terminated.

This is my problem: I asked S.B.C. for life-line (Low-Income) with no extras no call waiting /no caller ID /no long distance.

Not only did they attach all extra features that was humanly possable,"which I had to pay for! (their mistake)

But they also allow Programs like Callwave to attach their fees onto my S.B.C. bill.

Which I don't feel should be legal.

It sure isnt rite when a customer calls & tells of such an incident,only to have an S.B.C.Rep tell one of it's customers

!And I quote!

"That I will have to pay the bill as I should be responsable for my phone bill"

Well what about them being responsable for the call-waiting service that I explicitly told them I didnt want but they installed anyway which allowed the callwave service to work!

IF S.B.C. never would of put call-waiting or call-forwarding onto my phone service, the the callwave company never could have forwarded any calls to my phone & therefore none of the bill would of ever been incured

In short S.B.C. is responsable for the Callwave bill!

Maby I'M wrong but I feel that I am paying for alot of stuff

I never asked for & I think that S.B.C. & Callwave should stop such bad buisness practice's dont you agree ?
