I'M VERY NEW TO THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY. I WAS TRAINED, HIRED AND FIRED BY SCHNEIDER NATIONAL. THEY TAUGHT ME EVERYTHING ABOUT DRIVING A TRUCK BUT NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT HOW EASY IT WAS TO LOSE MY JOB. NO ONE HAS EVER TOLD ME ABOUT DAC REPORTS. I FOUND OUT WHEN I WAS TRYING TO GET ANOHER JOB.

I HAD 2 ACCCIDENT PLACED ON MY DAC AND SOME COMMENT STATING "USE OF UNAUTHORIZED VEHICLE." MY FIRST ACCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND MY REAR R-TANDEMS HIT A RETAINING WALL OF A RESIDENT.THE SECOND ONE IS CONFUSING TO ME. THAT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT U-TURN AND MY REAR L-TANDEMS GOT STUCK IN A DITCH. THE TOW TRUCK CAME AND GOT ME SAFELY ON THE ROAD AND I FINISHED MY RUN.

THERE WAS NO CITATION GIVEN TO ME AT ANY TIME. SINCE I WAS RUNNING OUT OF THE SAME YARD EVERYDAY AND HAD TO CLEAR THROUGH SECURITY AT ALL TIMES. HOW IS IT I'M USING AN UNAUTHORIZED VEHICLE? THIS HAS BEEN A DISASTER FOR ME. NO ONE WOULD HIRE ME SO, DO I JUST PAY A $4,000.00 BILL, GO BANKRUPT AND THROW THE CDL AWAY? WHAT GOOD ARE MY CDL'S IF I CAN'T DRIVE AND HOW DO I PAY FOR A BILL WITHOUT A JOB?

Schneiders paralegal doesn't scare me I have not done anything wrong I don't like being jerked around and treated unfairly why don't the paralegal look into the other complaints besides targeting me

Why did schneiders paralegal target me out of the dozen complaints againts schneider on this site. Because they think i'm a easy target they can mistreat. They were their own drivers complaining about them, but this dirty rat paralegal didn't say anything to them. I don't put up with being intimidating. Its a form of bullying and trying to scare me into keeping quiet. I was treated very unjustly by schneider.

So they want to get back at me by trying to intimidate me.

in regards to schneiders cdl training course it was horrible... to there training (on the job training) it was actually quite in depth.

to the tune of your "accidents" the way schneider and most other large companies classify them are so.

any instance to where a tow truck/wrecker is called for non-maintanace related issues(i know because i also had one instance where i ended in a ditched while parked with the breaks set on ice)

now in the category of "accidents" as another gentleman said there are preventable(which yours were) examples as for the right turn 1. you could have button hooked 2. you could have made the decision like most "Professional drivers" would have and seen the urn was to small and would have found an alternatinve route

for the left turn 1. schneider has a zero tolerance no U-turn policy(even if legal) so right there is where you ran into the snafu

im not trying to say schneider is the most amazing thing since sliced bread(currently employed here) but there are always two sides to the story.

as for the unathurized use i have no idea what thats about and you should look deeper into that im curious as to what that intales.

hope you find a solution and you dont just throw away your cdl. the most important thing i can say is if it doesnt look like it fits dont force it! and if you have questions ask. in this industry there arnt stupid questions.

The best thing Schneider National ever done for the trucking industry was to end their truck driver training program. If you would have went to a real school such as NC Truck Driver Training School at Johnston Tech you would not have landed your tandems up against a retaining wall or in a ditch. Plus you would have only paid $400 for you entire training, that constitutes 1 year otr experience for approx 1 month of school, but it is a state sponsered school.

Now to Schneider National. Your accidents were your fault however you can contest them on the ground that you did not have proper training. If you were on the Wal-Mart account, you more than likely did not have proper training as they fit the bill for Schneider National's driver trainer program, which is basically a driver with 3 to 6 months experience teaching another driver how to drive. Schneider has put so many lives at risk by doing this, it is a wonder that more accident and tractor trailer related deaths have not occured, esp out of the Wal-Mart Facility in Henderson.

Contest the unauthorize use in court, then charge Schneider in Civil court for damages.

As to my experience, Schneider in Henderson was a bottom of the bucket operation. Office personnel playing favorites with loads, inter-office affairs, faulty equipment, faulty brakes, faulty tires, Trucks that looked like they had been thru a NasCar race of the 1970s with duct tape holding the fenders on. It is a shame that the NC Highway Patrol does not effectively inspect more of these vehicles and issue more fines. These trucks still appear to be in the same condition today as they did 7 years ago. A deadly combination between pushed drivers, lack of experience and fenders about to fall off. It amazes me how a large company such as Wal-Mart would have them at their location or any company would have such as rag tag outfit pulling their freight. I guess it goes to cheap labour, cheap old equipment and cheap transportation fees verses the safety of the general public who is buying the goods that is being transported.

As to the driver who noted in 2010. In the real world of trucking, the worst drivers we fear is Schneider. Trucker try to get out of your way as quickly as possible to limit the time that you have to screw up and tear our trucks apart. We cringe when Schneider enters into the truck stop parking lots. One of the worse fears is a Schneider backing or driving his truck in beside yours. Most can't even drive in without taking out your mirrors but if by some chance they do, they will surely take them off when they back out.

I when to work at that Wal-Mart facility briefly to come off the road. But I realized if I had to that choice of $425 a week and being in a 62 mph (any faster the fenders fall off) pumpkin truck to be at home more, it was not worth it.

As a NEW driver with anty carrier, turns may seem very intimidating but with practice and confidence a new driver usually gets quite comfortable. As an employee with Schneider National a "SAFETRAC EVALUATION" is done after three months of employment to ensure you are doing everything correctly and if help is needed it will be provided on that very same day. So that being said, you obviously did not take advantage of further training that Schneider provides and maybe as the last coment says should stay out of a Freightliner and take a bus!

After two accidents, give up before you hurt someone.

Cornell, I'd forget about a trucking job. It takes a certain level of skill to drive trucks. Pro drivers make the job look easy, but that's only because they have been doing it so long. There are lots of ways to get hurt bad if the truck gets away from you. The thing can roll over. It can jack-knife. The brakes can fade on a long downgrade. Or you can simply get a high-hook and the trailer comes forward as you stop. When you do get hurt, it's almost always bad. Crushed. Smashed. Pinned in a wreck. Fuel fire. Obviously, you have a problem with turns. You don't understand how to make them properly. If you have two accidents in a short time, it looks like it's just a matter of time before you hurt yourself. Or worse, an innocent family on the road with you. Trucking is no picnic. You aren't missing anything good. Walk away and laugh at Schneider. They'll figure out that they won't be getting their $4,000 back. Keep your CDL. Maybe you could try those little trucks. Box vans. Do a local delivery job. Or a route sales gig. But stay out of the Freightliner cabs!

DAC is in the business of "black balling" drivers and this is unfair to us

At this time in a recent copy of Landline, the publication of Owner Operators Independent Driver Assoc. has filed a class suit against DAC. You can get more info from OOIDA at www.landlinemag.com Seems that DAC is in the business of "black balling" drivers and this is unfair to us . You can get the mag for free regardless of you own a truck or not, i.e. company drivers can get free subscriptions. Good that somebody is trying to look out for us. Take care.

My brother has driven over-the-road trucks for about a dozen years. He was fired from one job about 2 years ago after having two "accidents." The first occurred as he was leaving his company's terminal at night. The company was located in a rural area and the road to it is narrow and unlit. The truck's entire electrical system failed, leaving him without lights. He immediately stopped the truck but found himself on the shoulder of the road. The ground was soft from rain and the stopped truck slowly tipped onto its side. Now I would call that an equipment failure but his company called it an accident. I guess a driver is supposed to know that his employer's equipment will fail and drive accordingly. The second accident occurred when he jacknifed his rig on a mountain pass in Colorado in the winter. Ok, so they got him there. No dispute. His company fired him for having two "accidents." According to him, that is industry standard. He spent a year unemployed and is now trying to rebuild his career.

Spare Me, The only thing Schneider is good for is a half-way decent training facility.

#9UPDATE EX-employee responds

Fri, July 30, 2004

No, what doesnt MATTER, is the fact of whether or not you read and understand Schneider's policies. The only thing Schneider is good for is a half-way decent training facility. However, when you become a driver for them, they own you, and if you dont do exactly what they tell you legal or not, they will find a way to get rid of you. One other very important thing to remember about Schneider, are some of their social regualtions, such as, employees are not allowed to say anything negative about the company. I watched three guys get excused from training simply because they were discussing some lies the recruiter had told them. So you are wasting your time talking about Scheider's policies, because some of those policies are insane, and are illegal. Further more, they will report a lie to DAC services and RUIN your reputation before you even see it coming. Sure, you can twist and pull DAC into pulling off untrue information over a period of time, but the company who fed them the lie goes untouched. Trucking used to be all independant. Now companies like Schneider practically own the highways, and leave new drivers with little choice as to where to start. And all it's going to take is for someone to put a foot up their a*s, and they'll cut that foolishness out.

Citation?

#10UPDATE Employee

Sun, May 23, 2004

It doesn't matter, if you received a citation or not in the incident of the U-turn. If you read and clearly understood Schneider's policies you would know that making a U-turn is grounds for IMMEDIATE termination. Hence whether a citation was issued or NOT that is 9 chances out of 10 why you were termed from the CO. Have you attempted to clarify what exactly "unauthorized use of vehicle" means? Did you bobtail/deadhead home when you were termed? While you were getting this settled w/ the CO? W/out authorization. If at any time you took the CO truck and bobtailed or deadheaded home 100's of miles your leader could have been dirty and considered that unauthorized use of the vehicle. But, I simply believe it is all related to your U-turn you used the truck in an "unauthorized" manner because Schneider clearly prohibits a U-turn because of the risks it poses to the driver and the motoring public.

Several Things Are Important Here

#11Consumer Suggestion

Sun, May 09, 2004

First, what do you mean by "cdl's"? You have only ONE. An accident or incident is ruled to be either preventable (there was something you could have reasonably done to have avoid this) or non-preventable (you couldn't have done anything to avoid this). In both cases your tandems got you into trouble. You could have swung wide to avoid the wall and maybe the same for the ditch. As far as the unauthorized use...did you bobtail without permission? Did you run any excessive out of route miles? DAC is like the credit bureau and you do have a right to see exactly whats in there. If there's wrong information, then they need to correct it. Contact them to find out how.
