Why should you hold onto your receipt? For precisely this type of situation. Most stores, especially privately-owned ones, REQUIRE a receipt for returns and exchanges. In other words, NO RECEIPT - NO RETURN. It is unfortunate that you threw away your receipt, but that is your problem - not theirs. If the product is truly defective, then why not contact the manufacturer directly and see if THEY will replace it for you? Also, READ the care label when laundering your clothing. Many scrub tops, including Dickies, are now made of 100% cotton. If you dry it in the dryer, it WILL shrink. That is NOT a defect, but rather carelessness on your part, and not a valid reason for returning the item for a refund or exchange.
