Sears started a lease to own, we went up there to get a riding lawn mower. they said no credit required. you pay it off in 5 months, we said okay. then the guy said I had to check you credit. they called whynotleaseit and they said we didn't qualify.we have house and other bills like every one else does and all ours bills are payed on time. we had the money to put down on the riding lawn mower. to use if no credit required, why they did they check our credit, thats a ripoff.

'No Credit Required', not 'No Credit Check' - There's a Difference

WhyNotLeaseIt does not check credit, nor do they create an inquiry on your credit report when you apply. In fact, when I paid mine off, they reported it to the credit bureaus and my credit score when up 20 points. Also, the program is advertised as a 'No Credit Required' program, not a 'No Credit Check' program, therefore even if they did run a credit report, it wouldnt have violated any pre-existing understanding that they wouldnt.

Best To Apply Through The Why Not Lease It Web Site First

I would like to respond with my experience with the "WhyNotLeaseIt.com" program.  Our credit at present really stinks due to problems we are working on straightening out, but all the same, until we can accomplish this arguement we have with the credit bureaus, our credit still stinks.

I came across the WhyNotLeaseIt.com web site quite by accident when looking for some way to purchase a refrigerator without having any kind of credit to use, and for a price we could manage.  I did NOT go to Sears first to apply, and as a matter of fact, Sears isn't the only company that honors this program.

But finding I could apply for the program that would make payments easier to handle, I did so and asked for $2,000.  I got a near instant response, saying I could spend up to $1,500 on the program, with monthly payments that, for five months, would remain the same, and beginning with month six and thereafter, I could either continue making those payments till paid in full, or I could simply pay off the remaining balance and be done with it.

All I had to do was take the approval certificate I had to print out to a store that honored this program, and use it to make monthly payments on whatever I used the certificate to purchase.

I don't think this program is widely known, and I have a suspicion that in your case, where they did check your credit, the salesperson you spoke with didn't know about this program.

My advice:  Apply through the WhyNotLeaseIt.com web site first to see how much you qualify for.  Print out the certificate with its approval number and take it to the store you want to use it at, and there should be no arguement about whether you can buy or not.  The proof that you are entitled to use this program is right there, in red text, on the certificate you have in hand when you go shopping.

Good luck!
