Seaside Apartments Wrongful charges from apartment upon vacating Laguna Niguel California
I was previously a tenant of Seaside Apartments. Upon leaving the property, I received a statement of deposit which entailed charges owed by me as a result of my vacating. These charges included complete replacement of countertops as well as charges for not returning parking stickers. My initial deposit was $500, however they are charging me $695.63 in addition to my initial deposit. The property manager refused to provide proof that the counters needed replacement. It is in my opinion that any change in the counter during my tenancy was normal wear and tear. In addition, I returned the parking stickers for which I am being charged $150 for. I have tried to level with the property several times to no avail. Regardless of my dispute, they have sent my balance to collections. I have not sought legal action as I have moved to the East Coast due to my husband's military relocation. I would like the amount in question to be investigated and the unethical practices of the property addressed.
