My son’s high school senior class at Cienega High School in Vail, AZ, contracted with Senior Grad Trips to provide a three day trip to Disneyland, Universal Studios, and a day at the beach at a cost of $500 per student. The trip was to commence from our school parking lot with buses picking up our students and departing for California at 12:10AM on the 22nd of May. Nobody ever showed up and the bus company that was supposedly hired said they were never contacted for this trip. No such trip existed.
What ensued after has been a pile of lie filled promises to refund our money. In fact, their initial response was to take their website offline and not answer any calls or return any voice mails. Their social media folks chose to delete any questions or complaints posted on their social media pages. Essentially, they chose to ignore the fact that they had just stolen over $40,000 from 74 high school students and their families. Here we are closing in on two weeks since this trip was supposed to begin and Senior Grad Trips has done absolutely nothing to rectify this issue. They have not voluntarily returned any money to any of the the parents who paid for trips. Some parents who used credit cards to pay have been able to pull some of their money back. Everyone who paid by check has not received a single penny. Even after the owner, George Barragan, promised a 100% refund within 5 to 7 business days.
I do not want anyone to go through the disappointment that our senior class did that evening. All year they looked forward to this trip. All year they talked about it and were let down by Senior Grad Trips. Their families continue to be let down as this business continues to neglect its responsibility to resolve this outside of court. Even in the face of media scrutiny in multiple cities, complaints with multiple State Attorney Generals, law enforcement agencies and the Federal Trade Commission, Mr. Barragan continues to hold the money he took from our families and promised to return. DO NOT CONTRACT A TRIP WITH THIS COMPANY!!!
