Hello, thank you for reading this. I was called today by shell co collection agency telling me that i have been sent to collections for the amount of 4000.00$ dollars. This came as a bit of a suprise to me. The amount owing is apparently from an apartment that i lived in and got evicted from and went to court to settle. I have court papers saying i owe 800.00 and some change. when i informed the representative of this she told me she was looking at the same, although supposedly "confidential", court papers and they said 2500.00 and i was being charged almost 1500.00 for damages. There were no damages when i moved out. there was even an inspector. Of course you can see why i was a little iffy abbout giving this company any money. So I told the woman i would call back. she got very rude then and told me she needed to hear from me as soon as possible and if not it would affect my other creditors. I advised her that this is not only my debt but is also in my fiancees name as well and would call her back. About ten minutes later my mother called this company. they gave her all of my personal information. The worst part is that it was not only a representative but also a supervisor. they gave her my information, called me a deadbeat and told her the amount of my unpaid debt. Luckily my mother got it recorded that they spoke to her without my permission. For those of you who dont work in a call center like my self you may not know that this is illegal. It is against the F.D.C.P.A., which is the fair debt collections practices act. "you may not imply debt to any one other than the account holder or thier spouse".

I do have one more thing that upset me as well. when i called the company back to see if they were a real company, i asked the lady who ansered the phone to spell the name of her company as i could not understand what she was saying, and i dont mean that rudely. she proceeded to say " whats the matter? You cant spell?" i politely asked her again to spell it and she huffed and puffed until finally spelling it for me. i have a college education and i am far from illiterate. I dont believe these companys should continue to get away with the way they treat thier customers. Not only the way they treat us, but also the way they get away with breaking the law.
