On June 21st 2004 My father signed the papers of durable power of attorney. The hospital had never given me any paperwork, they falsified documents to bring social services into the mess believing that I would bow down to pressure of state involvement. My step brother was brought in for testimony on June 23rd to contest my durable power of attorney. even though he had only come to visit the hospital 3 times during my 21 day stay there. The hospital was fined by the state for neglect due to the bedsores. My fathers social security number was listed wrong on the paperwork when they transfered him to the nursing home which the hospital owns. He died on Sept. 23rd. The hospital listened to a person who had never been adopted and now 3 months down the line a Will happened to appear. I was never told about a new will. The bank manager of a credit union in Wasilla Alaska that called a complaint on me to the state. lied to me about a lien that had been placed on the money that was in the bank the bank managers wife worked at the main hoapital. When I was trying to get my father out of harms way and get him transported to Oregon. To remove him from hospital. To fly him down to Oregon with the funds in his bank account. The notary person who knew my father understood at the time he had witnessed with a state seal My father signed the durable power of attorney The notary has been fired the social worker who let me sign approval to move him to a nursing home resigned from the hospital staff, the hospital Omitted information to vindicate me from the chart notes. I was a natural blood relative and they refused to give me chart notes.Or any notes on the discharge hearing to move him to a nursing home. on july 9th after returning to Oregon the records person told me long distance that another person had been deciding for my fathers care and that I had no rights to get the records. I told her there was no natural blood relatives in Alaska at the time. The court appointed attorney thinks I am just a single mom and poor and have no say so in the court hearings. Its funny the pastor from the hospital called me long distance at the bequest of my father only days after I had obtained the durable power of attorney. How could he understand my fathers wishes if he wasn't talking and making clear what his wishes were? I never lied I told the truth. I was following my fathers last wishes on June 21st 2004 what good did it do? Now the court appointed attorney is charging outrageous fees and I am left with bogus charges of interfering with the hospitals want for money. Just in case you have older parents make sure they are cared for by a private home. Do not waste your time with nursing homes or hospitals they are after money thats all. Make sure all the paperwork is in order Or you get accused of being an overprotective child and considered nuts by your family. Go figure. To many lies were told to make this ever get resolved and there is no justice when they have so many well paid attorneys and you are considered a no-body when they protect they play the game so well and have the money to back their position they took against me. I have wriiten a letter asking the Lieutenant Governor to intervene on behalf of our family There is a hearing of custody from the state of Alaska to seize control of our father. we can not be there in person and I have asked that the courts move the date so that My sisters can go to Alaska after they pull the money together to fly up there. Hopefully Mr. Leman will hear my plea to help our family out by insisting that the courts give us a chance to travel up there to be able to attend the hearing the State is having on the issue of custody of our father. I never recieved the court documents until a week before this hearing is scheduled becasue they had filed illegally in the Superior district court with the wrong address for me so I was unaware of the hearing in writing up until a few days ago. I do not think this is fair for the state to not have my correct mailing address especially when We are talking about our fathers life? Maybe some way we will get through this hell just remember if your parents get older make sure they do not go to a nursing home, take care of them at home. Your family will be better off that way. Hope

I just got a notice that said that the security gaurd that was the notery person I used to validate a legal form at the hospital? Was fired, also I heard that the social workers that I came into contact with while at the hospital for 21 days? They are resigning their positions the doctors are no longer in State too? Does this sound odd? I wish I had more time to fight for my father but he now is getting another infection pnemonia and He is in trouble because of the lack of staff being able to turn him for to aviod the pnemonia to settle in his lungs. ON the weekends they do not have any therapy sessions to care for these older elderly people why is our health system not set up to care for the people that cannot take care of themselves? It seems like the hospital gets a slap on the hand and it is back to business? The State has already fined them I have the arm of the Law looking into the complaints from Medicare too. What good is it for them to get a fine for the neglect and the abuse? Elderly people should have someone to represent them like an independant Doctor? My father does not have a private doctor. The assesment has not been done and it has been 14 days since he was admitted to the rehabilitation Unit, They are required to do a medical assessment and I saw that his tooth( a base tooth for dentures?) Looked infected? I have no papers because the social worker refuses to send me papers. I asked and asked for her to send proof that all the right things had been done medically. I asked for a photo of my father and they said they would send one 2 weeks ago. No reply. I asked for the minutes in the hearing for June 17th 04? I have received not one piece of paper from the hospital. Call the administrators please the more public I have involved? The more United consumers become the more stories are told? United we stand and well you know the rest of that saying. Debra

If your father is being abused, you ned to contact the state and demand an investigation into the medical care of your father. You say he is a veteran. Can you contact the Veteran's Adminstration and request they assist you in moving him closer to you? If you don't know who to contact, you might call your local VFW and see if they have someone there who can give you assistance. Make sure they understand that you believe you father is being mistreated. Find a local reporter in the area where your father is living and see if they will do some research on the facility itself.
