For starters, and to be fair, I work for a competitor of Sleepy's. I have worked as a vendor rep and inspector for an inspection company- both of which have brought me into contact with this company. The immediate need here is for you and your husband to get a better night's sleep, without the back pain. The "mattress professionals" have probably sold you the wrong mattress for how you sleep. The sore shoulders and lower back pain are normally a sign of having a mattress that is too firm on your shoulders and doesn't let your hips in properly. Everyone thinks hard and firm are the same and that a firm mattress is necessary for a bad back, but keep in mind that your back is an arch, your hips and shoulders are curved and you have pressure points that when in contact with a firm surface, can cut down blood flow. Also as we age, the connective tissue between joints gets more and more tender. The answer- a new mattress would be best, but if that is not available- purchase a mattress topper to soften things up. The apparent sag you have is not the springs, but an impression in the upholstery layers. This is all too common today. The manufacturer will tell you it is simply the padding trying to accomodate your body curves. Also a mattress will always show wear in areas of use vs. areas of no use. It is easy to assume this impression is the source of your problem, but really it isn't. There were other choices of beds for you to choose and unfortunately you were guided to the wrong choice. The "professionals" at Sleepy's are trained to sell you a bed not by its benefits but by their ability to drop the price and push you into buying. Most people buy in the first 2 stores they go into. The opportunity for a salesperson to see you again is so minimal, Sleepy's and others figure the best way to get you is to shock you into making a buying decision by taking so much money off, you must be getting a good deal. Well sometimes the price they drop to will be a comparable price to elsewhere, but not always. It all depends on how good of a negotiator you are, and with this company you are probably out gunned. The comfort guarantee is set up so they can put the mattress back into inventory, cover all of their expenses and deter you from doing it. My best advise, do some research and buy from someone you can trust.
