Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
at the time sarah was just the manager of the smart style salon in camillus but has recently been promoted to district manager. it is unfair and disrespectful to fire someone over the phone for being sick. i called in because i have a migraine and i was throwing up i have severe chronic back pain and when im hurting i get sick. she had been trying to make me look like a bad stylist and trying to get me in trouble over the stupidest things. she cornered me on the phone and was lying about what was going on she 3 way called me and she tried to make me fess up to things that i had nothing to do with.  she got mad at me for cleaning. i mean come on when its slow you clean. she is so ignorant and shes a b**ch. she had no reason to fire me. and its not even legal to fire someone over the phone. she shouldnt of been manager of a salon when she only had 3months of experience. and her upper Donna has sat there and made all of us look like bad people. she is a liar and manipulative.

Of course lets not forget the heartless cruel  stacy who always Is mean to people who haven't done anything to her she Is a bully don't listen to her she Is mean to people but she Is a gutless coward.

I don't give her the time or day I haven't done anything to her,  she doesn't control me or my mind or my sanity.  It gets people really pissed off when I don't let them control me or treat me like crap so she needs to give It up & stop posting comments to me.

She Is a gutless coward who hides behind a keyboard tormenting people.  She Is nothing but a bully coward who Is looking to destroy you!.  You don't let what scum like her control you!.

Charles you can change your online name a gazillion times but your idiotic rants give you away.  You know nothing about working for a living like most of us because you have never had a JOB!
To the OP I suggest you check the Labor Laws in your State.

Let Sarah explain to them how she fired you over the phone.  Also sarah better have some warning documentation on you as well.

You can get FREE MONEY!  What are you waiting for?  At the very least sarah will have to jump through hoops to keep you from getting YOUR MONEY!

And that will be FUN!  Take it as far as you have to, to get PAID!

My family used to use some of these chains-thanks for the heads up!

this company sucks

The worst thing about this company is that if you don't get along with the manager or disagree about anything they can fire you and you will never be able to work in a chain salon owned by them again. Which is eighty percent of them. Regis owns a bunch of salons including smartstyle, haircuttery, mastercuts, bubbles trade secrets etc. It's not right. You should at least be given an opportunity to transfer or resign so you can still work at a salon that better suits you.

FMLA

I agree that its not always that simple, but it can be. The last time I had to file it I simply presented a doctors note and filled out a form. I had to show a second doctor's note releasing me back to work.  It can protect your job for that particular incident, IE: They cant put that down as the reason for termination. Of course, they could fire you for wearing a yellow shirt when you come back and claim they hate yellow shirts....

I am with you that the OP is likely immature, and lost her job because of attitude issues with her manager. Its clear this post is all out of anger towards her manager.

Ashley, FMLA not that simple. Lots of hoops to jump through.

FMLA is very hard to get on most jobs, and is not automatic as you may think.

It takes a whole lot more than a doctor's note!

FMLA has a lot of qualifying factors, and also depends on the size of the company, and the impact on the company is a factor.

And, FMLA doesn't prevent you from being fired.

If the employer want's you gone, it will happen one way or another.

I have been down the FMLA path.

It appears that the OP here is a very young, immature person who is quick to argue with her boss.

Bad move.

Newsflash. An employer owes you nothing.

You have no real "rights" to a job as an employee.

A job is a priveledge. Not a right.

To the OP, grow up a little bit and learn what's what, legally.

I don't know where you got that it is illegal to fire someone over the phone!

Are you in high school or something?

I also noticed that you are borderline illiterate with the run on sentence structure and lack of capitalization.

Maybe they fired you simply because your an idiot.

perfectlly legal

Unless there is some odd law in your particular state, it is perfectlly legal to fire someone over the phone. She did have a reason to fire you, you didn't go to work. Being sick can get you fired, there's no law saying they have to excuse the absense. UNLESS you go to a doctor and get a written document about your ilness. At that point you can invoke your FMLA rights. From what you wrote you did not go to a doctor so your employer was justified in your termination. Stop being so bitter and get a new job.
