I tried to buy a Kingston 16GB "Go Green" DataTraveler USB 2.0 Flash Drive today -- Smart Subs had the lowest price on Shopzilla.

After entering all my data -- name, address, credit card number, etc. I kept getting error messages that my zip code was wrong or my credit card number was wrong, even though the information was all correct. After many tries I finally got to a page which told me I didn't qualify for their required add-on 30-day trial subscription to Real Broadband Essentials.

I was then offered 2 other such items -- eMusic and Netflix. I checked eMusic and was again rejected.

I called and spoke to a rep who told me that I must already be in the files of Real and eMusic (though I never used eMusic) thus I wasn't able to buy the item they have listed in the search engines.

Nowhere in the search engine results is there anything about having to "qualify" in order to make a purchase.

This is a classic version of "bait and switch" -- they should be prosecuted for deceptive advertising.

Relax buddy. I've ordered quite a few times and never had this problem. I think I've gotten about four 4GB Micro SDTF cards. If you get that error message, simply try another credit card.

And about the alternative subscriptions, that's for people who want to purchase more items but have already signed-up for the Real Broadband Essentials subscription.

So slow processing/shipping? I would agree.
But, bait and switch? I would argue that the claim is questionable.

Lastly as for the "Nowhere in the search engine results is there anything about having to 'qualify' in order to make a purchase", with companies like this who tell you that they are only able to offer such low prices because of paired subscription, I thought it would be obvious that you have to qualify for the subscription to reap the benefits no?
