It has been brought to our attention, that Val our customer has posted a concern against our dealership and we wish to again assure Val that she does not have faulty seatbelts and provide Val with the solution which has already been provided to her. Our service staff have gone to great length to check on Val's seatbelt and have contacted GM Tecnical center in Oshawa, who have confirmed our determination that the seat belts are operating correctly as they are enginered and designed to perform. Val and her mother, who are both large, pull the seatbelt all the way out and then hold the excess in their lap until the belt is latched. In doing this they are telling the seat belt system that there is a child seat in all the seatbelts except the drivers. When the vehicle moves forward the seatbelt "ratchets" in order to secure the base of the child seat which is where Val has a concern and incorrectly believes the seatbelts are faulty. The simple solution is a certified GM seatbelt extention which GM of Canada will provide to Val or any customer that needs additional seatbelt length at no charge to the customer. Val simply needs to contact our dealership or any GM Dealership and the extention belt will be ordered and provided at no charge. If Val wishes she can have this confirmed at any GM dealership in Canada. We trust that this explains the seatbelt design and we look forward to providing Val with the extentions whenever she calls in to place the order. Thank -you Smith Chevrolet
