Smokey II's Doorman Bait and Switch quoted one price on phone and another when they arrived ripoff Phoenix Arizona
I called the company and asked if they could repair a garage door. I described the problem which they immediatedly appeared to recognize. The quoted me $49. and change if I came and got the part and did the work myself and $79. and change of their serviceman did it. I asked them to have their man do it.
When he arrived the first question he asked was what price I had been quoted. When I told him $79. etc he said that was just for the labor. I called the company in his presence and spoke to a young lady who assured me that she had quoted me $79. etc just for labor. I pressed her to confirm whether she herself had quoted me that price. She assured me she had.
Problem is that the price was quoted by a gentleman. When I cancelled the order claiming "bait and switch" I later received a telephone call from a gentleman saying he was shocked that I thought he was trying to rip me off and stated that "that's bull---t". I hung up after telling him I was reporting him to you and to the BBB.
I believe this is a classic case of bait and switch in the expectation that I would simply acquiesce because of the relatively small amount involved. This is a dishonorable practice and should not be tolerated.

I am responding to a report that is two years old. My name is Joshua Pettiette I am the manager of Smokey II's Doorman INC. This is my family's company. First of all, we have been in the garage door repair business for over 30 years. If this was the way we operated we would not be able to sustain ourselves for this long. Second of all, It sounds like the home owner was quoted $49.00 for his parts (over the counter), and then quoted a labor charge. A definite misunderstanding, we hate it when we have them, but, they happen. Also, this is the only report we have on us, not bad considering our longevity.
