I just recently had work done here for my Bucket Truck. I was told certain things were wrong with my truck and needed to get them repaired. I was was then told it would cost me $4,800.00 at the time. Also I had to repeatedly call on the status of my truck and that "parts" were on order as it would be a few weeks. In what was the matter of weeks turned into months, I finally got a call stating the truck was finished and was ready to pick up and that my bill was $5,930.00. I then replied that I was told it was going to cost $4,800.00 and that's all I approved to, as the day went on he called me back and said he lowered the price to $5,400.00. I then told him that's still not the price we agreed to? he then told me too bad because I am not lowering it anymore. I had no choice but to pay this amount because he wouldn't release the truck without being confrontational. I then went to the office and as I was writing the check out that he accused of not having the funds in my account! He made me call my bank and verify funds. I then wrote the check out and took the loss. I then was promised to have my power steering pump replaced as well as my brake lines fixed, which never was done. I am warning you any business you do with this company make sure everything is on paper and you have your P's and Q's aligned because they will try to screw you out of every dime to your name if you let them!

Buyer Beware!

This was a first time customer.  Came to shop with old unit customer said he bought in auction in Chicago. Needed alot of work . Unit had leaks everywhere, bearings out of the boom, brake issues, wire tied in places holding things together  and truck would barely run. I was out for the day when customer brought this unit in and unfortunately my mechanic ordered parts for this customer with out any sort of down payment for the parts.  Truck and unit had too many issues and too old and before you know it we have too much money in it to try and get it operating and updated safe condition.  If I were here when customer came with truck I would have passed on working on it , but a swivel and bearings were already ordered.  Customer was given a "verbal estimate" of $4800.00 for the main items suggested to be repaired.

During this time unit would never start, battery always dead.  Wouldn't stay running, fuel pump out. Customer called several times aksing on progression of his unit and one of the parts were back ordered.  Then the customer added several things for us to look at while his truck was here.  We were waiting on parts.  Finally, parts arrived and we installed them.

After repairing what the customer wanted we called him with invoice total of $5930.  He was furious and said it should be $4800 like he was told. Additional items fixed were added to invoice per customer. There was no sales tax of $230.00 or freight on parts $139.00 in the "verbal estimate".  Customer stated he wasn't paying over $4800 what was told to him. I removed 4hrs labor off bill to try and help him out which lowered invoice to $5386.98. So if you add sales tax and freight on parts to the "verbal estimate" we were over $218.00.  He wanted to pay by credit card and our company has never taken credit cards.  That made him even more furiuos.  He said he was going to write me a check and i stated to him if it was not a certified check I would like to call his bank and verify funds before he left.  First time I have ever seen this customer and this is obviously good business practice.  It only take once getting a bad check to make you leary.  This even made him more mad and he stated that he and his partner just came back from Chicago and didnt have a good day!  At this point we walked into office and I told my mechanic to stay with me as I feared this customer was about to blow from his actions.  I went into the office and called the Sherriff's Department as this was getting very ugly.  The Sheriff arrived in a few minutes and suggested I call to verify funds at customers bank and followed customer off the lot.

Specialized Hydraulics, Inc has been in business for over 30 years and this is the one and only customer I have ever had to deal with in this manner.

When I read this on-line about our company it was extremely hurtful that someone wrote a RIPP OFF letter over their own bad actions!

Sincerely,

Specialized Hydraulics, INC
