Gary Spivak and his team lied straight to my face. I saw all their positive reviews before going there, so I expected an honest and simple transaction, but unfortunately it was the opposite. I am compelled to share my experience, since I saw so many positive ratings from other customers. Now I’m questioning the authenticity of those ratings based on my experience. I came in for a jewelry repair and Gary and his team assured me that they had a fixed price for my type of ring. Told me not to worry. Price wouldn’t change and it would only take 1 week for repair. "Ok, fine sounds reasonable.” One week later, I receive no call from them. I figured they would need more time so I didn’t call them. So I decided to call and check on my ring after 10 days, which is reasonable. I spoke with the owner(Gary) and he explained to me that it is taking longer than he expected and it may be more complicated to repair than he originally anticipated. He said we were possibly looking into spending more money too. What?! You specifically told me that it would be a fixed price for repair, based on my type of ring! Classic bait and switch! When I explained to Gary that I couldn’t pay the extra money, he basically said, "I’m not sure how long the repair will take.” So you’re telling me we go from 1 week and fixed price repair, to overcharging and zero timeframe for completion. Luckily I paid by credit card and was able to dispute the charge. I went back to get my ring. Please AVOID Spivak Jewelers at ALL costs!
