Sprint advertised great prices on their web site, available only there. I have been with Nextel for over two years (pre-merger), and am just a month off contract. I currently have 3 lines.

I put the order into the Sprint web site for 4 lines and phones. I included my SSN and DL for credit check. I get a call from Sprint two days later that I have been rejected because of my credit rating.

I go to Exprian to make sure someone hasn't trashed my credit record, and I find that I have an excelent credit rating.

So, I call Sprint. The Telesales dept. tells me that my credit only allows me to purchase two lines. This is because when I purchase the Nextel phones, I was rated for 5 lines (the max at that time), and I could only get 2 more lines.

I then get forwarded to a Sprint credit verification dept. which confirms this status. The Denver credit dept. is closed due to blizzard. They can only update what Telesales views, but cannot update what the web site uses - they don't even know where the web site pulls it's information or how it works.

So, Telesales offers to do the sale for me. But, they cannot match the web site prices. It would cost me over $300 more for the four phones, since the web site waved activation and gave much better discounts.

I then attempt to use a 3rd party (myrateplan.com), but they hit the same snag.

I finally get the order through my wife's credit rating which is run freshly.

This is a ripoff, where I am being punished for being a Nextel customer and locked out of the web site pricing.
