Starbiz Wilhelmina Starbiz is very misleading and gives you false hope I too am a victom of their scam There has to be a way to stop this Scottsdale Arizona
I am so disappointed with Starbiz. This agency is very misleading. If only I had come across this website earlier! I too, got caught up in the whole excitement of it all. Bruce and Sara-Beth can be very persuasive. Even though I did the research with the BBB and checked out the Starbiz website -- which all seemed to be very legit -- I was completely mistaken by this whole ordeal.
I wish I knew what other people had gone through BEFORE I proceeded in giving Starbiz $675!!! Each and every story I have read sounds all too familiar.
My story takes place in September when my husband heard the ad on the radio stating that Starbiz is auditioning for babies for a "Christmas Catalong". After the audition, I was told to call back within a certain hour and once I did, I was told that they were currently "reviewing" my daughters tape. I recieved a call later that evening and sure enough -- my daughter had been chosen.
They asked me to come back to the office (which is quite a long drive from where I live) so I could sign the contract and pay the fee. Then I was scheduled for the photo-shoot in mid-October. I was told to bring two pairs of shoes for the photo shoot -- one white pair and one black pair -- since the ad was for was for winter clothing. Once I got there, I couldn't believe what the clothing looked like!! It was hidious and not only that, my daughter was dressed in a tye-dye summer dress and went barefoot!! Needless to say, I was not at all pleased with the situation.
At that point I was told that I would recieve a phone call when my daughter's photos were ready to be picked up. A couple weeks later I get the call and I had asked them if they could mail the CD to me since thier office is so far from where I live. They refused to do that so I had to come back to the office again. It just so happened to be yesterday (November 10th) when I made the drive to pick up my CD. I noticed that there were people outside the Starbiz office picketing. I walked over to them and this is how I got this particular website address and was able to read all of these horrible stories about Starbiz. Had I only known about this sooner!!!
After reviewing my daughter's CD I was extremely upset. I feel that the photographer did a horrible job and she wasn't very professional at all. On top of all that, my arm is completely visable in several of the poses on the CD (in certain poses I am supporting my daughter) and the photographer told me not to worry, she would crop that out for me. Well, she didn't.
I am also extremely upset with the headshot that they chose for their website -- it doesn't do my daughter justice. Bottom line -- stay away from this company. It's nothing but a big scam and they are just looking for their next victom to rip off!!!
