Complaint Review: Stevens Construction Company - Chula Vista Colorado

Tony Stevens and his father in-law.  Came to my house gave me a estimate for Labor only to install my Shower Pan, and tile my Shower and Bath room.  The small bathroom will only take 4 or 5 days,  After he gaveling excuse after excuse the small bathroom took over 6 months of making a huge mess in my house and killing my grass by cutting all thee tile and letting all tile dust fall in my grass it contaminated soil no grass would grow, cost me $1,000’s to have it removed and re-sodded. 

The quality of his work is POOR  if not No quality at all,  Tony Stevens used his Wife and 10 year old Son to get moneys before the job was compleded.

The owner of this operation is Tony Stevens (Robert Anthony Stevens). He is very personable and pleasant when you meet him, but don't be fooled........ The quality of their work is appalling, and all the guarantees that Tony gives you regarding their work are just sales words ........ These guys will take your money, do a terrible job and that is the last you will see of them. They did not show up and start the work when they were supposed to (even though I had paid them a deposit to specifically lock in the schedule). They did not complete the job in the time they said it would take to get done - it took me repeated phone calls, texts and emails to get a response as to when they were coming back to complete the job. On the day that they did come back to complete the job, I had to leave the site before the job was complete.

Tony  then literally begged me to give him the money and promised me that his work was guaranteed 100% and that if I was not satisfied in any way that he would fix the problem immediately. Told me his Son age 10 or so need medical treatment and he had no insurance…… felt sorry for the Son and made the mistake of giving him the money .......... The next day I went to look at the job and it was a disaster to say the least. It then took me 7 weeks of phone calls, texts and emails to get him to come back. He agreed that the work was not acceptable and set out to correct the problems, but in fact ended up making it even worse ........ I have tried to reach Tony again but my calls, texts and emails have gone unanswered. I ended up having to pay another contractor to come in and fix the mess that Tony created and it cost me twice as much money to complete the project. But i was glad just to get Tony out of my house

Then I found out Tony had stolen serval things as he worked in my house, Tony needs to be in Jail.

Subsequent to all this I went and did some research on this Tony Stevens  which is when I discovered that he operates under the banner of 3 different companies (Stevens Construction Company, The Shower Pan Company and The Concrete Company). There are plenty of negative reviews out there on Yelp and other sites like Ripoff.com that tell a similar story. He has been sued previously in small claims court and was instructed to repay money to homeowners which he has never done. Check out his contractor’s license online at the California State Licensing board  (www2.cslb.ca.gov/onlines…) and you see that his license has been REVOKED at the same time he was working on my bathroom as a result of all the disputes that have been filed against him. So if he tells you that he has a license that is a lie. Furthermore he has no bond or insurance so YOU risk being sued if something goes wrong on the job.
