I attempted to bring my old Verizon Samsung Convoy (U-640) over to Straighttalk.  Though a simple feature phone, it is exactly all that I need and rugged for what I do for my day-to-day job.  That said, I checked on the Straighttalk.com website and then spoke to an online representative that said that they would not be able to confirm unless I purchased their Network Access Code (NAC).

Shopping for the basic plan, the $30 plan, would be sufficient for my needs.  I purchased the $15.89 NAC and was guided into a "enter your NAC" area with zip code and how to acquire the plan.  I was unable to find this code.  I called Straighttalk was they attempted to tell me that I was unable to purchase the $30 plan, only the $45.  I was unable to find this information out until I entered my phone's MEID number, not the NAC, into the text box and click through the options that led me to the next page where I discovered their "policy" that only gives me the $45 and up options.  Though the customer service representatives stated this was their policy, I had to fool the NAC text box with my phone's MEID number.  I never received the NAC.

I called a total of 8 times before reaching a representative that spent 28+ minutes trying to grant me a refund.  She did try to give me extra things and a one time $30 purchase but if I want to continue with this service, I would have to purchase the $45 plan.  I was paying $50+ through Verizon with a discount but was aiming for a $30 plan, which was what was advertised.

To conclude, the representative was unable to help me, I am out $15.89, though not a lot of money to some, I am trying to cut my monthly costs as much as possible and not have my money gambled on a technicality.

My suggestion, if you want Straight Talk, I suggest you pay the money for their phones and their plans.  The BYOP plan is a hoax and should be identified as such to include a legal review.

What do I want?  My $15.89 returned!  That's all I am asking from them or to allow me the ability to purchase the $30 plan per month.
