A collection agency is given documentation by whoever the original creditor happens to be. In your case, this would be your apartment complex. The apartment management company should be able to provide a break-down of your fees. If you truly broke your lease, these fees and costs were probably provided to you upon moveout. If you just left, then that's your problem. In addition, nobody asks a collection agency to handle their debts, but when your bills go unpaid, guess where they go? Read your lease, assuming you actually kept a copy since you seem to not hold onto your paperwork. If you want this cleared up, dont assume someone else will do the work for you, get up and do it for yourself and quit blaming everyone else!
