SUNCOAST ENERGY PRICE GOUGING ORLANDO Florida
I went to return my car to hertz rental place, as I was getting late for my flight i went to this gas station( now Suncoast energy) to fill up before return. after i fill up i realized the price is 4.39/gallon !
I was convinced that it must be a mistake on sign because going price for regular is 2.40/gallon. I went inside and asked about the price. attendent told me thats the going price and they have been doing it from last 6 years ! She said its the location. I wasnt conviced and she started getting attitude and becoming rude. As some other customers over heard my argument and thanked me for saving them. Another 3 customers turned around and left and one canceled his transaction. Thats why probably she was getting an attitude.
This is price gouging. Its a crime, and it is happening openly ! I dont know how they are doing it and how it is allowed !

Rebuttal said that this is "standard practice" near Airports. When I was driving all over orlando, this was the only one that I found without any sign posted along the road like ALL others that I saw. Even near airports around the country, signs are clearly posted to notify drivers. Can you tell me other gas stations near the orlando airport without any signs posted with the prices?
The first time I noticed the price was at the pump itself. I thought that HAD to be a mistake. But when I started pumping, sure enough the total pumped reflected the posted price at the pump. I only pumped about 2 gallons before I stopped.
I asked the clerk if it was truly $4/gal and she said yes, because of the location.
And here's the rub - I hung around the station and simply asked the two drivers near to me whether they realized that the price was $4/gal - and they were shocked as well!! I told them to drive a mile down the road where gas was less than $2/gal, and they gladly did so.
So the station is taking advantage of the fact that if there is no sign posted, unsuspecting drivers will pump gas without realizing the cost until it's too late. This is an unethical business practice - which may be legal, but should be stopped. THERE SHOULD BE A REQUIREMENT FOR THE STATION TO POST PRICE SIGNS. I got a terse letter from the orlando better business bureau that they are doing nothing wrong. Anyway - something still does not smell right about this one.

The price is marked at the pump, if you do not wish to pay it go back to another gas station and pay for it there. This has been a standard practice for gas stations located next to airports for years. Do you complain about paying 4$ for a bottle of water inside the airport when you could get it for 1$ at a gas station? No. This is no different. Move theaters charge 6-7$ for a tub of popcorn that I can get for 2$ at the grocery store. Should we scream price gouging there too? lesson to learn: You paid extra for gas, for the convenience of buying it next to the airport.
