In April, 2006 we stayed at Sunset Fisherman's Village. Even though we already had a timeshare there, we were told that a Fisherman's Village 2 was being built just down the road, that it would be more exclusive and that it would work JUST perfectly with our retirement plans.

As we had no problems up to that point with Fisherman's Village, we signed the contract, received a copy of our great floorplan at the new building and were told that under Mexican law, the building would be complete by 2009.

Well, as you may have guessed, they now have NO idea when Fisherman's 2 will be built (although I do have a written confirmation it will be built some day). In addition, we also fell for the scam regarding Resorts International Marketing Corporation who who rent out our unused VIP weeks at the rate of $2500/week - so the new property just paid for itself. Obviously, Resorts International has done nothing so I just filed a complaint with the FL department of Consumer Affairs.

Once it was obvious that Fisherman's 2 was not being built, I have called, written and tried to get our money back. I've either been ignored or told I could buy a unit at Tres Rios. Avoid these people at all costs.

It's such a shame that these crooks are taking advantage of vacationers. Same happened to me in Playa del Carmen. but this timeshare by Royal Elite/Sandos. We attended the presentations just to get the freebies,, after 4 hours, we started to get a little frustrated, we just wanted to go out of there, we didn't care about the free gifts anymore, the swore the product they were selling wasn't a timeshare, but pretty d**n sure it was. NEVER again, I feel sorry for the people who end up falling for the royal elite timeshare trap. Beware of timeshare scams in Mexico!!
