This morning, two kids came to my door telling me that they were selling magazines and they needed points to go to Cancun. Normally, I'm not inclined to buy anything door to door, but I was groggy and it was early morning and I wasn't thinking clearly. After chatting with the less than intelligent youths, I wrote a check for $34.00 for a subscription to Wired Magazine. After talking with them they told me that this is all they do and that selling magazines is their job, but every month they have the opportunity to win a trip to Cancun. He told me he had about 1800 points and needed 2000. Later on in this conversation, he told me that the trips go by quarters, like January to April, May to July, that sort of thing, so I knew he was lying about how many points he had. That's just to get the sympathy vote. Well, before he left he asked if I had any marijuana and if I wanted to smoke some with him, and after I declined, he left. I decided to see how much a one year subscription to Wired actually is. It's 10.00..... so I overpayed by 24.00. I knew something was wrong. I googled this agency and found this website declaring the obvious fraud. I got in my car, drove down the street, found the punks selling to someone else, and got my check back. The one kid said, "yeah you really f*#$@* me there." They were very professional people (note the sarcasm). I almost got ripped off, but thanks to this site, I've only paid $20 for a stop payment that I put on the check before I decided to find them. Hopefully I'll get that refunded.
