Beware of nationwide chain Swat Environmental.  If you are handy around the house and need Radon mitigation chances are you can do it youself for a fraction of the cost of these jokers.  They charge on average 1200 dollars for a fan and some plastic pipe.  I'm talking like 140 bucks for a fan and maybe 150 for pipe, seriously.  Take a look on indeed.com at jobs for these guys.  Required high school diploma and some construction work, and training is available.  You drill a hole in the basment floor, excavate some dirt and run the pipe outside.  They are supposed to excavate 20 gallons of dirt.  The guy stuck his vac in the hole and sucked out what he could and called it good.   They are supposed to seal gaps and cracks.  That did not happen, and the pipe going up the side of my house was different shades of white.  I'm now in the process of improving on this disaster myself.  A call to the local sales guy results in "I don't know why he didn't do this, I don't know why he didn't do that, I'll have to ask him".  You won't get a call back though.  If you want a professional to do this work for you and install a radon mitigation system if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, do a search for the many local mom and pop companies.  They will do a much better job.  Thank me later.

First of all, I had to seal all cracks and openings in my house myself.  Technician, if that's what you want to call him was a joke.  He was in a rush, said he had a couple more of these to do that day. My radon levels never went down.  After I sealed everything myself, taking another week to do that, and running another pipe from the other side of the basement, tieing it in to the hack job your guy did, my levels then went down, from a 5.2 to an average of .06.  I have a monitor in the basement that constantly monitors the levels.  Your people are NOT professionals.  What a joke.  Your company is making a ton of money off of this is what it all adds up to.  Rebutt all you want.  I'm the one that got my radon levels down.  Very sloppy job from you company.

Although the process to may seem simple to just tell someone what is done, without a trained and certified professional conducting the installation, more radon could be released into the home, any warranty of the fan will be void, and a there is no professional putting their name on the line stating that the testing and/or installation has been performed correctly.

Mom and Pop shops may be able to complete the job, however, many of these shops have not been in business long enough to show a proven record, proof that they will be around to service your system before any warranties expire, and many times they do not have enough technicians on staff to meet deadlines required/requested.

SWAT Environmental has installed over 100,000 systems, nationwide. We have come across many different scenarios as far as different types of foundations, different types of soil under the foundation, special placement of the mitigation systems, a variety of building codes, and we adhere to the Radon Mitigation Standards set forth by EPA, ASTM, and AARST. Many of our locations are able to schedule installations with a week and many times can install the next day.

When you reach a customer service associate that isn't able to help you with questions you may have after your installation, please call the corporate service department at 888-286-2822.
