My husband is in Iraq fighting for our country. i recived an official looking letter notifying me i won a sweepstakes, and the award attached was a voucher for $400.00. according to the company, i was only allowed to use the voucher towards the purchase of several items that flyers were enclosed in the letter. i had my choice of five different items.

i decided to show the letter to several other military wives, and they all said it looked ligitimate. i decided upon the RCA home stereo sysem with surround sound for only $579.95.

i then comparison shopped and found similar systems for the same or higher price. i decided to purchase the item as a surprise for my husband for his heroic service to his country. the form gave me a choice to pay by credit card, check, or money order. i could pay all at once or pay with a layaway plan.

i opted for paying by check and using the layaway plan. i sent in $12.00 using a personal check. it has been several weeks, and the check cleared the bank....but i am yet to see the merchandise.

what tipped me off to a possible problem was first, usually if you agree to pay on layaway, a company would get in contact with you about exchange of services. this company did not. secondly, looking on the paperwork i have saved over, there is no address or phone number to contact the company.

this morning i decided to look on line for the company. when i typed in the name, a bunch of websites popped up with the words fraud and sued next to the business's name.

i called my bank and they stated there was enough time to dispute the check. but they could not prevent further withdrawls, so i am to be vigilant to check my account every other day. my only protection is to claim fraud each time they extract money from the account, until my husband comes home to help transfer to a new checking account.

thanks to your services, i was able to get informed before i became heavily into debt to this company. they should be ashamed, and the government should be ashamed for not protecting thier citizens better, especially military families! if a company has had several lawsuits against it, it should pique the interest of the attorney general. these people should be ashamed and held accountable!
