Sweetbay Supermarket still
acts like Kash n Karry and portrays the image of Trash and Scary. They have tried to polish their image and
compete with some of the best. However,
they have truly failed at the new image and more. They just changed their name and the signs. They cant come close to the
professionalism, ethics and cleanliness of their competetitors (i.e. Publix
and/or Winn Dixie). If you are a
customer filing a complaint they do not care about your complaint and they
probably wont acknowledge you either.
This is because they are first and the customer is last. Here is a complaint I filed recently both on
the phone and in writing. To this date,
I have received no response what so ever.
Everyone should consider the nature of the complaint carefully. Especially if your daughter, mother, wife,
sister or any other female that you care about shops at this store and/or
possibly any other locations. It seems
they all have the same policy. In
matter of fact the representative told me that they were backed up on
complaints. If that does not say it
allI dont know what else would.
On 11-30-2009 at
approximately 5:15pm, I shopped at store # 01869. This is the grocery store location that we shop at the most. We have spent a large amount of funds at
this store location over the years. I
have been speaking to my wife about shopping at other stores because of the
incidents that have occurred and continue to occur at this store location.
When paying at the cash
register there was my cashier (Peter) another male cashier and 1 male
bagger. In lieu of giving full
courteous and friendly customer service they were talking to each other about
hitting on an unknown female customer on the Gatorade isle. In addition, I attempted to purchase items
at the Deli and there was no one attending the Deli. When approaching the cashiers I noticed the Deli person in the
back talking on the cell phone. On
numerous occasions I have noticed numerous employees smoking in the very front
of the store and sitting on the benches while there are customers waiting in
long lines inside. I have also observed
several employees standing around and having personal conversations while there
is only one register open and a long line.
These are very common occurrences at this store location.
This is totally
unprofessional and very bad customer service.
In addition there is also the possibility of Sweetbay Supermarket
setting themselves for a sexual harassment lawsuit.
I sincerely think someone
needs to take a second look at management of this store. I have had my own business prior and have
been in management for many years. I
would never allow this type of conduct or un-professionalism
in my business. In addition, this
type of customer service would never be tolerated, especially in the current
state of the economy and business competition.

I would just like you to know that I sympathize with what you are saying. I have been in the grocery store world for over twenty years. I have worked with some of the biggest chains in the U.S.. Kroger, Hy-Vee & Sweetbay just to name a few. And I tell you this, what you are saying happens every day. I have seen it with my own eyes working for Sweetbay. I have spoke with people in H.R. of Sweetbay and even throw they have given the stores a face lift. The same people that ran Kash N Karry out of business are the same ones running the show now. When Food Lion / Dalhaize bought Kash N Karry out the let all most every one that ruined Kash N Karry keep their jobs. What I have been told is that they are having a hard time retraining their management team. I have worked for Kroger when they have taken over stores and they do not work that way. They come in and evaluate all employees from managers all the way down to baggers. If you arent up to their standards, they are gone no matter how much time they have with the company. Its like one of my old bosses said a long time ago, You can put a hat and dress on a pig but it is still a pig. If you want to change things with Sweetbay you have to go to the top. E-mail and phone calls to corporate. Ask to speak to Mike Vail CEO him self I bet you will see change.. Hope things get better for you and your family.. ;o)

WE HAVE STARTED TO BOYCOTT MOST ALL SWEETBAY LOCATIONS. WE ONLY SHOPPED AT THIS SPECIFIC LOCATION BECAUSE IT WAS THE CLOSEST AND MOST CONVEINIENT. HOWEVER, IT IS A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE AND WE HAVE STARTED SHOPPING AT OTHER STORES. WE FEEL BETTER SPENDING OUR MONEY AT A STORE THAT APPRECIATES OUR BUSINESS AND THEIR CUSTOMERS.

...of not shopping there. At the beginning of your report you stated "They cant come close to the professionalism, ethics and cleanliness of their competetitors (i.e. Publix and/or Winn Dixie).". Why then are you giving this store your money? The majority of reports on this site are almost word for word the same as yours. You have the power not to give them your money. What more do you want??
